I had a question that I was wondering if someone could answer: whenever I give LO cows milk, she vomits excessively after, so is presenting with an intolerance it seems to me. however, on allergy testing, the results are negative for an allergy.
My question is, I had eliminated cows milk from her diet for months prior to testing and didn’t reintroduce it as I didn’t want to rock the boat after finally seeing her get better. In theory, would it be showing negative as there are no antibodies / antigens due to them not needing to be there as I had eliminated the allergen?

Allergy testing would only show a positive result if she was IGE. If she has more non IGE symptoms (like vomiting) then she would be negative. There is also a risk of inaccuracies with testing depending on age x

Thank you. Yes, it’s more IGE so that may be why it didn’t show up.

yeah non-ige won’t show on allergy testing. By you introducing again and her still reacting this has confirmed the allergy in the same way a test would, if that makes sense? You would now need to continue dairy free and after 6 months (if over 1) follow a ladder to reintroduce to be able to find her tolerance levels. Cows milk is right at the top of the ladder x

What used to be called intolerance is now called non-IGE allergy. If she is vomiting each time then I would say it’s clear she has CMPA. Try following the milk ladder.

Thank you. Just trying to equip myself for consultant appointment where I am expecting him to discharge us and not give any further support due to negative test on allergy testing 🙄, which I’ve heard happens.
She had been getting pretty good on baked milk products but we tried ReadyBrek, which is fairly near the top of the ladder and that’s what caused the vomiting to re-emerge. So giving a break as you say and starting again once things have calmed down.
