My pay from work is around £776
I went back to work last month and got £500 due to starting half way through after a year off.
My rent is £590
Council tax £80
Phone bill - suspended as I can’t pay
They increased from £70 to £100
It’s been suspended for 2 months. I told them I can’t pay and I don’t understand why it’s gone up so high. They said legally they have to. But % go up every April.
I have WiFi my sister pays. But I don’t have to pay her back.
I don’t have enough money for myself, but I prioritise my son’s food/ nappies first.
I reached out to the residents scheme and they gave me one off £75
My ex husband gave me £60 child maintenance now has reduced to £13, which defo helped every month.
Any advice .
I have no one to look after my son except weekends when my mom is off.
But now my son has hand foot and mouth disease, this weekend I booked as holiday. But due to my sons sickness we are stuck at home

Have you looked into claiming UC?
Though I do believe if your son is over 3 then you do need to earn £812 per month which is the equivalent to 18 hours at the highest minimum wage.
But that could help, as you could also get housing element to help with your rent as well. Also do you claim child benefit? If not you definitely should.

Why don’t you apply for universal credit? Going by what you’ve said here you will definitely be entitled to something! ☺️
Hey Michelle. Mg son is 13 months ..
I’m not sure how much I’d get for one child it equivalent to £244 I presume
Will defo be looking into it.
Even with the money.
How do I save
I’m very poor at saving money.
Yes I do get child benefit

Oh then you'll be fine on the money you owe.
Any money is better than no money.
I unfortunately am extremely bad as well with saving, but you could open a savings account and set up a standing order for when you get paid so it automatically takes the money out without you having to do it monthly? Even if its a small amount its better than nothing

How come your phone bill was that much? I pay £4.50/month although it is a SIM only deal x
I bought the latest iPhone 14 pro max for my ex husband through ee when we was together now we’re no longer , he still has the phone and I have the sim.
I’ve never had a sim only plan tbh. I’ve alwahs been the type of girl with the latest phone.
But I’m stil on iPhone 12 and his on iPhone 14 pro max .
The problem is Michelle. I have access to all my account so I tend to always need it as an emergency. I need an extra card and just not know the online details tbh.
And when I have extra money. I spend it on my sisters and the kids.
Jusg last week I spent £90 for the kids and herself and me - total £150 I didn’t need a dress but I wanted it, because I’ve been wearing the same clothes from way before I’ve been pregnant.

I’m sorry if I’m wrong or read any of this wrong (super tired from the clock going back)
but if your ex husband is only giving you £13 a month in child support and in turn your still left paying a bill of £100 for a phone he now uses. He should be the one paying for the luxury of that phone not you when you’re struggling to save money. If you two are on good terms this is maybe something to consider cutting one of your costs down.
Also definitely do try the entitlement benefit calculator as others have said you probably are able to get more support.
I hope your situation improves x

You could get a new account with a different bank, not register the online banking, and also find somewhere to put the card so its not on you, on a day to day basis. But you still have access for times it might be 100% needed

Instead of having a card, split your money into weekly budget so if its 200 a month £50 a week, then you can physically see how much yiu are spending
, me and my ex husband are not longer together. I got him that phone and extended my contract as his phone broke and he refused to buy one. And I desperately needed to communicate with him on a day to day basis.. when we lived together: it’s my bad the contract is for 2 years he just has the phone I have the sim.
We are no longer on good terms since he hit me I filed for a non molestation and received it.
I don’t have a car.
I reily on public transport
I can do tht, then I get paranoid whether it’s going in or not. So I have to keep checking up on it.

Just check that it's going out of your main account, it'll tell you were it's going.
Also I know Nationwide offer limited access and fixed rate ISA's
Limited Access means you can only access it so much before the interest rate will drop to the same as a normal account. And fixed rate means it's locked for a fixed term for withdrawals.
It might be best to look into some help maybe? I'm terrible with saving as well and definitely need to sort out getting better with it. I actually have a savings account that I've managed to not touch, it's only got a small amount in it, but it's a big step for me to have had it for a few months and not withdraw anything from it.

Sorry I’m awful with saving so can’t help there, it reading the comments I’d 100% be getting that phone blocked by EE… report it lost to them if you own the contract, don’t let him keep using something you’re paying the luxury for!
Thanks Michelle, I appreciate it.
that’s the thing I didn’t even take the IMEI NUMBER! Else I would’ve blocked it by now.
I was in so much love it’s ridiculous

You shouldn’t need it, they will have those details stored if you got the sim and phone together! I’d give them a call and explain, they’ve done it for me when I had my phone actually stolen.
You will get through this and I wish you all the luck for you and your little one x
Thank you Steph .
I spoke to them and they said they don’t have those details a few months bk x
I appreciate it x
