Sucking on fingers, saliva, overfeeding? But no active gripping and holding anything other than our hands. We have teethers but he's not gripping to hold them to his mouth. I'm hoping one that is basically a pacifier will help.
He's jot crying at all hours so I feel we've manged some of the pain.
Can early teething be helped by feeding him mushy food? I have a book that has a 4 mouth starting point...I am gonna wait till I talk to the pediatrician just to be sure. But the "eating" his own fingers with the salivating is making me think teething.

Yes baby is teething freeze your breast milk let baby chew on that in a silicone feeder or pick up teething toys

Chewing on hands is a gross motor skill & triggers increased saliva so there’s a decent chance baby is not teething. My kids & nieces/nephews did the same thing around 12 weeks but didn’t get teeth for several more months.

Baby could have also just discovered their hands… or it could be the start of teething but sometimes it can take up to 4 months to see the first tooth even after some teething symptoms. I wouldn’t recommend feeding anything until at least 6 months when the babies digestive system is more developed. Either way feeding won’t help teething.

Usually around this time is when they discover their hands and begin to explore their hands with their mouths. My peds also said this is around when the saliva glands turn on like a faucet.

My 11 week old is going at his hands like crazy and drooling also and chewing on his favorite teething toy .. but he isn’t teething just discovering his hands and loves this freakin toy lol

@Juliana he doesn't have consistent grip strength...so it's hard to tell. But as far as I can see he's not in pain consistently
