Am I in the wrong?

I haven’t had a nights sleep in probably 9 months, I ebf, and for 3 months I’ve had very little sleep I’ve had the odd 3 hour stretch. My partner is a great dad comes in from work baths lo does night time routine etc but he sleeps in the spare room Mon to Friday. Sometimes I will have a a couple hours in spare room on a Fri or sat night before I’m back to try feed to sleep. Tonight has been even worse wake ups every 30-60 mins and I can’t do it anymore I don’t sit around all day I have a baby to look after I maintain the house it’s not spotless but it’s livable I order food shopping cook los food try to do a few slow cooker meals so evenings aren’t as hectic lots of life admin baby classes swimming coffees with friends then the dreaded cycle of seeing each family member as both families are broken and they all wish to see lo constantly and can’t realise they’re one of 20 but that’s another rant I never ever get a break I have a bath maybes once a month on a weekend when my partner has her he does offer to take her for example to his families as she will now have a bottle and yes I’m my own worst enemy cos I don’t want to be away from her ha anyhow tonight I said we need to swap rooms so I’ve had 3 hours in spare room he’s made me feel so bad cos he’s at work was I in the wrong to expect help during the night during the week?

My partner works and helps with any wake ups from either of my boys, even in the newborn stage! I would be annoyed

We tend to split the night. My husband does bedtime etc and any wake ups till 12-1am then I take over.
I tend to go to bed at 9-930 so I bank a few hours sleep. It works for us at the moment and I feel less tired/ worn out and he gets some sleep before work. We also wear ear plugs as I couldn’t switch off if I’d hear her cry, I then take them out when I take over. Oh totally get you though, you want a break but you don’t want to be apart from them too!! 🤯

I think you’re very lucky to have that few hours in the spare room on a weekend.. I EBF and co sleep.. my husband has never seen to the baby during the night nor had he ever gotten up with him in the morning. Don’t get me wrong! During the day he’s a very hands on dad! But I would love a couple of hours to myself in bed. It’s such a difficult period for both us mums and the babies. But no, you’re not wrong to expect help during the night in the week x

No you are not wrong. Partners should help more even when they work. If you can get a friend or your mum to help during the day and take a nap works wonders. I go to my mums once a week and I get a full night sleep and don’t worry about anything. Keeps me sane and a better mum x

Me and my partner were like this for a few months and it’s so draining, I broke and had to leave for a bit and we came up with a plan that would suit both of us, so we are getting equal amount of sleep. I pointed out that even if he goes to work, he gets to clock off at the end of his shift, my job is my baby and it never ever stops and then I have the added of doing absolutely everything else except bedtime.

Maybe coming up with the plan would help but I think you’re very much entitled to want help, it’s his child too, there needs to be a balance.

I hope thinks work out ok for u mama x

Not at all. That’s life now. You both chose to have a child. My partner doesn’t really do night shifts unless he knows I need it but I have said to him when I’m back to work I won’t be doing them all the time. He has been helping and he does get up early with the baby so that I can have a lie in so that’s our compromise. You also need to stop pleasing all the family to see little one etc and need to make sure you take care of you. I think people forget there’s a reason why maternity leave exists, because you’re adjusting to life with a baby, sleepless nights etc etc, it’s not a jolly and to do everything for everyone. What does your partner expect to happen if/when you go back to work? I would start having those conversations now and managing expectation and being a little bit selfish because he sure is!

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?
