I only want to pack essentials. I don't want to take too much with me. Please help. First baby.

I would pack everything honestly. so that way you won’t have to repack it for the first doctors appointment or if you guys have any where else important to go.

@Serenity what is everything

id definitely say like diaper rash cream, diapers ofc, changing pad, wipes, hand sanitizer, burp cloths, feeding supplies (formula packed or whatever you need to feed) when theyre older food & snacks, pacifiers, change of clothes (probably multiple)

100% anything you use on them frequently whether that be baby aquaphor or lotion or anything excema related if they have it, just anything you regularly use that youd need to travel with and cant go without for a while

this is what I take to the hospital?

some reccomend doing like one bag for you, baby and your partner, or like one bag for labor and one bag for the after delivery room, i personally want to try to carry as little bags/items as possible so ive tried to fit as much as i can in each bag but again its all up to each person of how they like things to be organized.

Uhhhh I probably packed a 1/3 of that with my first and barely used any of it. The hospital provides a swaddle, hat, diapers, wipes, nipple cream, butt spray bottle, butt numbing spray and witch hazel pads for soothing, maternity undies and pads etc. They have soap and will clean the baby. Unless you want specific stuff used the only thing I needed for my baby was clothes. Which I think I brought 2-3. Maybe see what your hospital provides first. I say bring stuff to keep you warm and for birth. Warm Bathrobe, heating pad, blanket, phone chargers, sandals. Comfy clothes to leave in.

I’m on my second baby. Coming at you with experience. And honestly. I wish I would of taken my own pillows- and a small mattress for my husband bc the couch they get is terrible. Two very tired adults don’t think very clearly. ( Amazon has this mattress that folds into thirds and it’s very convenient . -Your own skincare and take a thin slip on dress w easy access to breast. A robe. Slippers- I say dresses it’s easier than putting pants on -A small fan-clip on your hospital bed. Bluetooth speaker- laptop to watch movies / shows. A few outfits for baby. But the hospital will literally give you everything. Unless you have a preference to the soaps / lotions then bring your own. But I packed so much stuff for the first baby. It was overwhelming. Another thing I would do is order a collapsible cart with wheels. They have a long handle.- you can store everything inside. And place your pillows and blankets on top of the box. And you’ll avoid having to look through a bunch of bags.

I also agree with the snacks and calling your hospital. You can ask them for a tour as well. It’ll give you a chance to see what you have available. Some rooms have microwaves and a small fridge. In my hospital you can pay $150 for an upgrade and get a suite. Another option would be to make yourself food. Pack everything and have fam/friends bring you what you cooked every day. In case they don’t have a fridge or a microwave. It’ll prevent the $$ spending on vending machines.

2nd baby here: I say bring some depends, or Always period diaper pads, comfy robe, slippers, long charger, shower toiletries, gowns, baby clothes, water bottle, and hospital should provide the rest for you and baby

I love Babylist… they’ve been keeping me on point my whole pregnancy…

I packed my diaper bag with everything I could possibly need and used nothing except for the going home outfit. They literally give you everything. So I left with so much shit. For just the baby I had the diaper bag I packed. A big bag they gave me with pack of diapers, wipes, creams, bathing soaps, suction, pacifiers, tiny bottles they have (not regular ones). Another bag with a bunch of breast feeding stuff so creams for me, bottles & syringes for storage, labels to keep up with times, manual pump, actual electric pump. I had a bag for me with my toiletries & pj’s. I wish I would have had brought pillows though. Literally everything you use or touch, they send it home with you unless it’s like disposable things

Like some of the other ladies have said, I way overpacked and used nearly none of it because the hospital provides so much. I didn’t even wear my cute going home outfit to match with baby, I put on the same comfy clothes that I went to the hospital in. I was like a zombie, I had no energy for looking cute lol. But I would recommend bringing an outfit for baby, toiletries, maybe laptop, chargers, slippers, a comfy robe, and a boppy pillow.
