I’ve been trying to give my baby more finger foods but he’s not chewing at all. I just tried to give him one of those baby puffs and he swallowed it whole and started choking. (I know the different between choking and gagging). He does the same with eggs and anything else I give him. He just starts swallowing without attempting to chew. I have the solid starts app and I follow how they say to prepare foods. Not sure what to do. Is anyone else going through this?

Mine did this at first. What I did was take a bite of the same food and show her how I chew with my mouth open. She now tries to chew things more. Still spits some stuff off but we’ve def been able to move up on tougher foods this way

Have you done resistive teethers with him like mango pits, corn on the cob, chicken drumsticks, so on? Maybe something baby can manipulate with their hands and mouth may trigger their chew reflex?

I second modeling chewing, be very dramatic about it. Monkey see Monkey do lol. Worked for us

We did a lot of modeling with very exaggerated chewing while saying “chew chew chew” and she picked up on it! Like literally move your jaw like a monkey lol
