I’m due this month, and I plan on exclusively breastfeeding 🤞🏾
so I haven’t bought any bottles at all or a steriliser unit. Should I have?

I’m just about to give birth (literally in the hospital right now haha). I haven’t decided how i’m going to feed as it depends on so many things. I’ve not bought anything! So will try to breastfeed at hospital and if anything goes wrong then there’s options like hand expressing, hospitals have pumps and i’m sure they even have emergency formula so you won’t be stuck. Worst case someone can go out and buy me some formula, baby won’t starve so i’m not worried 😊

As above, hospital will support you to breastfeed or other options. You could always use ready to feed bottles if you absolutely needed to and then order bottles, steriliser etc x

nope, i never buy bottles because its soooo tempting when you do, i ended up stopping feeding one of mine earlier than i wanted to because i knew they were there, put baby on boob right away as soon as they come out and youll be good to go xx

You can always Amazon prime some or send someone to Tescos to get some if you need some, they’re easily available ☺️

I haven’t bought anything either! If you’re worried maybe prep an Amazon basket with what you might order ☺️

Nope you don’t need to! You can always get someone to pop to the shops if you need it or order or Amazon prime! When I breastfed my first I read a great book that suggested if you have lots of things like that in then on the harder days it’s easier to give in and I actually found this really helpful! Obviously do what works for you best but can always get those items easily xx

I would maybe get a pack of 2 mam bottles as these are self sterilising so you don’t need to buy a steriliser but are there just in case.
I am exclusively breastfeeding and took colostrum to hospital however my baby wouldn’t latch the first few days. I had more than enough colostrum however the midwife said they can’t discharge babies who are only syringe feeding so I had to give him some formula in hospital. Luckily I had a few mam bottles which were given in gift bags at private scans. I got nipple shields which helped him latch and now we’re exclusively breastfeeding without the shields!
Also just to add, if you do need to give some formula in the first few days please don’t feel disheartened. I cried when I made the decision to give some formula because I had my heart set on breastfeeding but it was very temporary, my baby is only 10 days old and within about 5 days he was breastfeeding with nipple shields, and for the last 3 he’s been BF without them, so progress happens fast

Thank you all so much x
