How's everyone getting on with their new babies?

We're 1 week 2 days in and can't believe how fast time is passing! Loving the cuddles but we've struggled with breastfeeding. Baby will not tolerate the crib or moses basket so we're doing lots of contact naps and a bit of co-sleeping. Interested to hear how everyone else is faring!

We are 7 weeks today and yes it's flying by!! Same here, he won't really settle in next to me crib, so have lots of contact naps and co-sleeping! Breast feeding is the best/worst thing, I have such a love hate relationship with it 😅

Mines 12 weeks and it’s flown by. Also struggled majorly with getting him into his bassinet or cot. He wakes up after every sleep cycle and needs to be rocked back to sleep but will sleep fine on our chests or next to us. Still do try to get him into his cot everyday but don’t know if I should just give up on this at this point?!

We're doing well 😊 baby no2 is 5 weeks and such a good baby. His brother would never go down in his moses basket but this one will for at least the first few hours every night! He's breastfeeding and putting on weight like a champ after we got his tongue tie fixed which was causing him trouble at the start. It's lovely being a family of 4 x

I would say if you would like them to sleep more often than not in cot then perserve with putting in the cot/bassinet.

Ours suddenly started accepting it at around 10weeks. We’re 15weeks now. I just decided around 6/7weeks that he couldn’t do every nap as a contact nap, and started putting him in the next to me one nap a day, I would pat and shush him to sleep, rather than rock as hoped he’d stand more chance of not having the shock when he no longer had warm arms around and could hopefully get through the sleep cycle. He now does 70% of naps in the next to me, although only one a day does he get further than one sleep cycle. And at night time I would say in general it’s only the last couple of hours of the night maybe 3times a week a comes into our bed.

For me it was personal choice, as I needed to be able to get on with dinner, as other half doesn’t get home from work till late. And I don’t sleep very well if he’s in our bed, wake up in agony after an hour

I’ve co-slept in the night from the beginning as I lost a lot of sleep with my first baby wasting time trying to put him in the cot all night.
I am struggling with laying down breastfeeding though, baby is only 3wks though so I think once she’s bigger it will get easier!

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!
