Iv got another booked for 36 weeks. Had a 36 one with my first baby too. Maybe depends on the trust xx

Avatar

That’s it for most trusts, unless you need extra for medical reasons / growth scans

Nope I was told that's it too! I'm booking a private for 28 I think to see baby and 3d scan again x

Yeah you only get 2 scans on the NHS, your early pregnancy scan (dating/booking scan) then your detailed scan (also known as fetal anomaly scan) but I have an anterior placenta so I am to get a scan at 32 weeks and 34/36 weeks to monitor this. If you choose to do a gender scan, that gets done privately but they measure your baby’s head circumference, you can listen to baby’s heartbeat & get printed scan images. X

I’ve never heard of extra scans for an anterior placenta? I had one last pregnancy and this pregnancy and no one was bothered.
Is yours low down?

Avatar

Goodness me. It's not much, is it? Thank you all. Wasn't sure if I was meant to call to book or if it was intentional. Think I will be having a private one closer to my due date. I'm less anxious now that I feel baby moving every 1-2hours but still want to make sure everything's going well x

Avatar

yeah mines really low down and below required measurement x

Avatar

No more scans unless needed. For example high risk, low placenta etc. x

I was told I get the 12 week scan & 20 week scan through the NHS then unless you have a high risk pregnancy or pay for a private scan then that’s all! After my 20 week scan I had that ‘oh is that it’ sort of feeling😂x

Avatar

its because everything is formed and developed at the 20 week stage normally so there’s no real need for more scans unless of course of complications x

Avatar

I have 4 more nhs scans but am high risk as type 1 diabetic. So I am not really sure what's normal.
Also have a 4d scan booked a week before Xmas for my partner to get a Teddy bless his heart he is super excited x

Avatar

That's it for most people unless there's anything they need to recheck or any concerns later on

Avatar

yh.. it sort of feels like a cliffhanger. "Are you sure we're done here?" 🤔

Avatar

@Chelsea webster understandable.. but how are we meant to know if there's complications without doing a scan to check?

Avatar

thats what the 20 week scan is for then you’ll know after if something isn’t right x

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

2nd pregnancy after c section

I’m not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon but in the future possibly. I just wanted to know how is pregnancy after c section like my fear is having to go through another emergency operation or even putting strain on my incision during pregnancy

Newborn stage

Is anyone tired of doing the same thing everyday and being on a 2-3 hour schedule? It’s the same everyday and I feel like I’m losing my mind. It’s making me depressed even if I get out once a day. When does it get better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the next stage where it’s not just sitting around all day.

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.
