We live in a very small house and I get frustrated that my partner comes and sits on our tiny sofa with me when I'm soothing the baby/ baby is crying/ feeding and types loudly and talks about their work and I think I DONT CARE I've got too much to deal with currently with a newborn......I actually love the one day he's in the office so we get some time alone. Is that mean? I hate hearing him shouting on work calls and feel like I need to keep the baby quiet but he wants to be around.

Yeah it is pretty mean to be honest, of course he wants to be around his newborn baby!!! š but you have a newborn and your own postpartum hormones to contend with. I was also annoyed at many things and a bit mean sometimes. Give your partner and yourself some slack if you can and have a chat with him about it if possible

I felt like this at first itās only recently I (and baby) have gotten used to my loud partner. I think it was mainly the stress us mums feel looking after them and trying our best, while they just worry about themselves lol. It used to irritate me so much. Now I look back I was defo just overwhelmed and itās actually nice when heās around now as it keeps baby busy with someone else to look at etc š
It's just overwhelming with 2 adults, a baby and a dog on a 2 seater sofa with carnage š. I know he wants to be around but he doesn't help!

It is totally okay to take a breath then say "I am feeling overwhelmed. I don't have space to talk about your work right now. Baby needs (feed, sleep, whatever)."
Thanks ā¤ļøwill try that next time before it gets too much and I become snappy xx

I donāt think thatās mean! It would be different if he was coming into the living room or on the sofa to help or something, but just to sit & type or talk about work when youāre in the middle of the fourth trimester is just unnecessary š« maybe start setting boundaries together so he can still spend time with his baby on lunch or whatever, & you get the space & time you need too.
