Hello,
Baby boy is nearly 3 weeks and we are struggling to get him to nap at all during the day. He maybe gets 2-3 hours max spread across 8am-8pm, then he’ll have two stints of 4 hours sleep overnight with a feed inbetween (which is great) but I keep worrying that he isn’t getting enough sleep for a newborn. He can be quite fussy and he is also very hungry so often awake feeding A LOT. Which means I also never have time to pump as I’m either feeding or he’s fussing. I now think I have a blocked duct 🥴 any help or advice would be great! Is he maybe just a very awake/active newborn?

My 6 week old used to nap during day, be would fall asleep after his bottle but now he is wide awake after his bottle and wont sleep. Often cries when he is put down and just wants to he held. This has all started this week since he has had covid. I’m hoping it’s just a phase 😅
I feel your frustration. It’s hard. Getting things done around the house whilst they are awake and screaming is not easy 🤦🏻♀️

Are you breastfeeding or are you bottle feeding your milk? He might not be getting enough milk from a feeding session which will mean he stays awake. Maybe try pump to help your milk outflow so you don’t get blocked ducts and bottle feed to make sure he’s feeding well. Has he been putting on weight nicely? If you’ve got a blocked duct and he isn’t feeding well maybe you should check for a tongue tie? You could also introduce some soothing methods since babies can’t self soothe like swaddles, pacifiers, crib rockers, pink and white noise machines?xx

If youre putting him down for naps you could try baby wearing instead he might nap better on you
