Formula fed babies…nearly 3 weeks old

Our son was a juicy baby at birth 9lb 5oz! Anyone else with a larger, formula fed baby..how much formula are they on? Our son has been on 4oz for a week but I’m sure he’s ready to be moved to 5oz! I just feel this is too much!! I don’t want to over feed him. I also don’t want to under feed him. But we’re going anywhere between 2-3 hourly feeds. Sometimes after an hour he is crying for more & it’s not wind 😫

I had a boy born at the same size in Nov I was told as soon as they start finishing the bottle add in an extra oz. We are up to 8oz at 8 weeks and sometimes he still wants more within 10mins

Hey, our baby was 8lb 9oz and we always thought he was hungry at the 2 hour post feed mark and he was having like 5oz quite early on turns out the crying was actually pain and he has reflux so we were basically masking the pain by feeding him as the sucking gives relief… he was literally having like 12 feeds a day until the HV advised this is too much so we stretched him out to 3 hours. Carobel really worked for thickening the milk slightly but turned out to be upsetting his tummy, now we’ve stopped that the relentless crying at 2 hours post feed has restarted so we’re looking into treatment for reflux again. Why do babies not come with a manual x

this is interesting! I’ve actually just read silent reflux! Some of those symptoms fit him! I have health visitor next Friday so I’ll speak to them about it. Thank you 🤍

Aww I found this app so useful for everything like this! Sometimes talking to other mama’s experiences are far better than any advice the HV/GP can give you as we are living through it!! Good luck 🩷 Xx

So interesting to hear everyone else’s experiences. Our girl was born 6 lbs 6 and very quickly started taking on bigger feeds. We are combi feeding but today she was feeding every 90 mins and drinking between 110-140 mls of formula as well as 15 mins on the breast. I was worried this was way too much but I read it’s hard to overfeed a baby and they’re pretty good self regulating how much they consume. It’s a minefield though - there’s so much information I’m not sure what’s normal!

So I only moved to formula at around 3 weeks nd baby was about 8lbs 5oz then, he was having 4oz around 120mls and now he’s nearly 6 weeks and having 5oz 150mls about every 3 hours sometimes stretches to 4hrs. He weighs about 10lbs now and he’s a very long baby too. Sometimes I’ve given 6oz if he’s had a big gap between feeds and sometimes before bed depending on times. We follow his demands on feedings and odd times itl be within an hour or an hour 30 but mostly 3-4 hrs

My baby was 9lb 8oz, he’s 6 weeks today and on 6oz feeds. Often every 3 hours but he sometimes cluster feeds on an afternoon / evening

If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!
