My 4w old baby has been awake since 11.30pm

It's now 6am. Everything we try isn't working. We've tried swaddling, bouncing/Rocking, white noise, cuddling, skin to skin, putting in the Pram and walking around the house, feeding, burbing/winding. Neither of us have slept as baby just keeps crying. He's over tired but is fighting Everything we try and do.

I don't know how much more I can take of this. Thankfully his nanna is going to have him tomorrow so we can sleep.

Babies are exhausting. Why does no-one warn you about this.

Oh my god bless you!!! Have you tried taking them outside, maybe in a carrier? The cold air tends to shock my little boy and calms him right down. Sending lots of love ❤️❤️

I might try this. Thank you x

I’ve seen if you swaddle them in a muslin cloth or something and run water over them it can help them feel like they’re in the womb? Maybe look it up first for temperature etc? :)

Is this a new thing just tonight or has the screaming been happening

Avatar

Having a warm bath might work does for my little one x

Avatar

@Gabrielle he does get like this most nights, but nowhere near as bad as he was last night. That was something else. He finally went to sleep about 7am, and just woke up, so feeling a bit better now x

Avatar

I think I'll try a bath later if he's the same, thank you x

I have been using the bouncy ball that I used during pregnancy with my little one, it works absolute wonders it calms her down no matter what is wrong with her! I think it reminds her of when she was in my womb and it soothes her.. I use it every night to get her to sleep and it also helps me break her wind.. hope you find something soon that works 🩷

Have you sought medical advice? Especially if being this unsettled for this long. My baby at 8 weeks was like this one night, just up crying for hours and hours, turns out he had viral meningitis.

Avatar

Worth getting them checked out if it's happening often.

We went GP with ours at the start, unfortunately it was colic so just had to endure the screaming for 2 months until we could finally give them some pain relief 😮‍💨

Avatar

Thank you so much for the advice everyone. Spoke to the HV today, they said it's likely reflux. I called the GP, but there's no space, so I have to call back tomorrow for an appointment x

A nice walk outside in pram, a ride in the car, the happy song by imogen heap- works on my baby every time. Dancing fruit videos YouTube. Breast comfort feed or just to feel, massage, a bath, a dance

Avatar

my boy is really gassy and has a lot of trapped wind too, but they've said it's not a tongue tie. We have the GP tomorrow, so hopefully that will help x

Avatar

I had the exact same!! Was from 11pm till 7am she was around 2 weeks old. I pit it down to her being a colic baby. We did get her milk changed she's firmly fed. She's always been a nightmare sleeping. She's now 4 months and deffo better to compared to what she was

Avatar

@Kerry this is reassuring as my boy is bad at sleeping, but last night was particularly bad x

Avatar

@Emily awful spelling mistakes in my last reply sorry!!
She roughly does every 4 hours now. Where as first 8 weeks she'd be awake crying and upset majority of night!!!

Avatar

4 hours sounds like the dream. What milk does she have? Xx

Avatar

do you think he could have colic. my daughter was like that. really badd. started at 10-11pm ish and sometimes she’d be up hourss then overtired. but was all caused by colic. it had such a knock on effect i feel like i should have been warned too🤣

Avatar

@Shannon I'm not sure. He's not slept today either, been awake since about 2ish (its now 10.30) with the odd 10 minute nap here or there. He did sleep from 7-2 though pretty well.
I thought colic was the same time each day more or less x

Avatar

@Emily docs think possible cow milk intolerance and she's on nutrimigen ... I think it's worked!! Maybe try docs and see if they suggest anything

Avatar

Our baby had really bad colic when he was around 2 months old until around 6 months. He screamed himself purple, I was so exhausted (still am) we tried everything too and the only thing that worked was the pumpy dumps dance and song we created together which helped his tummy release wind and mine too come to think of it 🤣

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
