Not settling in evening

Does anyone else’s LO have a playing up time?
My LO is 6 weeks and the last couple of nights between 6-10pm she just won’t settle. Not sure if it’s just where she’s overtired and just fighting it or if it’s just a phase they all go through?

My baby does this too. She’s 5 weeks. She is overtired, though, because she is only super difficult to put down when she hasn’t slept a lot during the day.

Last night, she wouldn’t go to sleep until after 2am and that was after hours of feeding and bouncing.

Then she woke up at 5am to feed…she pooped, so we changed her diaper and then fed her…put her in her bassinet and suddenly she is wide awake! She’s been awake for an hour and a half already 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫

Yes we’re the same my daughter is 10 weeks, it started at around 6 weeks every evening for an hour or two she is just unsettled for no apparent reason - I think people call it the witching hour, now we know it’s going to happen every night me and my husband are ready for it and with a bit of calming music and swaying round the living room it’s much more manageable and is over much more quickly, hang in there it’s normal and won’t last forever xx

Yes this is normal but it’s a nightmare lol. It’s called witching hour and it’s at its worst around 6 weeks

We had this from week 5 to week 9. The purple crying period, there’s nothing more you can do but ride it out unfortunately x

Yes I have found this for a while although it’s gotten better really. It depends when I feed her, if I feed her I’ll put her down she’ll wake and just look around and make noises. And more recently she’s been able to settle herself and go to sleep. But sometimes she’ll get upset after a while and want cuddles so I have to cuddle her she’ll fall asleep in my arms and then I’ll put her down and sometimes she’ll stay asleep then. It varies though but yeah she does have some unsettled periods in the evening. Before she was doing it until 1 am😭 but since I changed to combi feeding she’s been more settled and easier to settle lately

Yes we went through this to from 4-6 weeks. It was horrendous! It’s so much better now though. He could cry/scream for hours and it was very stressful. We thought it was due to over tiredness. He’s 8 weeks today and it’s so much better now, hang in there, it gets easier xx

This is called the witching hour. https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/after-birth/your-babys-development#:~:text=The%20amount%20babies%20cry%20usually,called%20'the%20witching%20hour'.

when did it start turning a corner? I have the same thing!

We bought a rocking chair just to help with witching hour, as my LO wouldn’t even feed unless she was being rocked etc, she still has fussy evenings but the chairs really helped settle her to sleep

for us it got better at 6 weeks. He can still have his moments at time but nothing like what it was. People told me it got easier and I didn’t really believe it, I was on google/mumsnet looking for answers etc. But I promise it does get better!

okay that gives me hope! We are at 6 weeks now 😬

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
