We are super excited to start trying food! I’ve been looking everywhere to see best options and what to start with, but I wanted to know is there a guide that anyone has used?

Is it a book?

app, website and Instagram account. It was basically a one stop shop for me when I did baby led weaning with my son. Started at 6 months and he’s 2 now and I’m so glad I found that resource! The food database on the app is free - it tells you how to safely prepare anything by age. Watching their Instagram stories will give you lots of helpful tips. And their website has lots of different guides - introducing allergens, schedules by age, water intake, etc.

Thank you so much 🙏❤️

We’ve been following the Moms On Call book for EVERYTHING and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s like a baby reference manual. Our baby was sleeping through the night (7-7) from 3 months old. The 2 ppl we recommended it to in real life have also sung its praises so it seems like it works well for more than just us. That said, we are following a mixture of what they recommend and our intuition when it comes to the solids part. It says to start feeding them with a long handle spoon and do like baby cereal or a jar of puree. We use the little set she will use once she can feed herself (no long spoon!) and we have been mashing sweet potato with water and using an immersion blender and just have that for the week in a glass jar in the fridge. She loved sweet potatoes! This week we started mashing banana down and feeding her that. She is unsure about banana but it’s been so fun trying new things! Good luck!!

thank you!! Is this an app? I’ll definitely look into this. How old was your little one when you started feeding them food?

thank you! I’ll definitely look into this. I’m able to start doing some purées at 4 months now but everything I see says 6 months.

of course! Nope, it’s a pretty thin book that we found super easy to navigate. It’s on Amazon! I’m not sure if they have an app or anything like that. We started her around 5 months. We waited until she could sit up pretty well (she’s almost 6 months now and still isn’t perfectly sitting unassisted) and also waited until she started paying attention and expressing interest in what we were eating/drinking

A lot of pediatricians still follow the old advice of introducing solids at 4 months, but MOST babies are not developmentally ready until closer to 6 months old. SolidStarts has great info on what readiness looks like

Solid starts is a great resource! Not only on how to feed food to your older baby, but also the major allergens as well ( and with a once a year payment, you can access recipes with it as well)

The allergen tracker is a big one, as allergens are actually now proven to be best if introduced before the age of 1 year old. Regularly and often

And then continued exposure as a toddler as well

( though, a child can have an allergy to any food, not just the 9 major ones )

Solid starts! They also have a free app to help navigate baby led weaning and portion size. They offer cpr & choking classes. Also a lot of info through their insta as well

I got mine from our paediatrician.

Solid starts! I started my girl at 4 months (she was ready), did the 100 foods before 1 yo challenge. She is now 22 months old and the best eater ever! There is really nothing she doesn’t like, believe it or not! That girl goes for pickles and olives for snack. Today she wanted a plate of Brussels sprouts. She loves sushi and seaweed salad. These are just a few examples of her taste buds :p
Solid start has been absolutely perfect for us honestly!
