Supportive or bragging

Yes thank you we get it under virtually every single post your child is developmentally thriving and he does this and he does that and he uses sorry correctly and he can count to whatever number and he eats whatever you give him. I get that people want to talk about their own kids but when an anxious mum posts you don’t need to borderline brag about how ‘well’ your child is doing compared to hers and then pretty pointless to follow up with but oh I wouldn’t worry lol. Quite often when mums create posts they are looking for reassurance from other mums who are experiencing similar things, not mums who have no idea or cannot relate to what the OP is talking about, this is pointless and counter productive. Seen this woman do this for as long as I can remember in this group too! We are all just trying to navigate and find our way, no one needs this bs. I will give the courtesy of not name dropping but honestly you know who you are so please give it a rest

I'm on a page on FB for Nov 21 babies and there is a mum who posts about her child doing the most advanced things but then puts some silly worry she has about it. It's a brag disguised as a question. This child should be part of Mensa for the advanced things they're doing but it stresses other mums out. I replied to her once that it's completely unnecessary. She knows her child is advanced and it worries other mum's. My child is delayed as she was born with brain cancer so lost a year of her life to chemo, so whilst I know she is behind, it still stresses me out seeing how far behind she is to 'average' kids, let alone perfect ones x

I come on here quite a lot and this group is my favourite by far for support. If someone asks 'can your kid count to 10?' I would comment yes, but if someone posted they were so worried about their kid couldnt count to 10 i dont see it helpful to comment and say yours can count to 20 🙈 I distinctly remember a post I made about something that was really upsetting me looking for support and people JUMPED on it saying 'my kids the total opposite' 'my kid does this this and that' and it made me feel even worse. I don't know who you're talking about, but I think just in general it's good to think about what you're commenting on those kind of posts x

People do it in real life too. A 'friend' came to my house and basically got her kid the same age to say all the sentences that he could say, and count and do colours etc in front of me. Then proceeded to say "do you think Jakob will ever talk?" 🤬

well actually, mine can count to ten in 4 languages, and backwards, whilst reading shakespeare 😂😂😂

Avatar

well mine can do all that while hopping on one leg so 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

after 16 hours solid sleep. But he only slept so well cos he does a triathlon every day

I think bragging usually hides alot of insecurities, yes Myla is fairly advanced but I'm the first to admit that she is a giant bumhole quite alot of the time 🤣🤣

I hate this so much! I see it all too often! I get mums are proud of their kids and just excited to tell people their achievements etc. but when someone is genuinely worried about something or looking for reassurance it’s the last thing you need! All kids have their own ways of doing and learning things things and their own personalities and as mums it’s so hard not to compare your child to the next (we all do it!!) my boy can’t communicate yet and has very few words but yet can do so many other things! But I always get comments like “he needs to talk now” 🙄 asif I can wave my magic wand he’ll suddenly speak 4 languages! Lol

😳 some people are so insensitive and immature.

Why do I feel I kinda know who this person is 🤦‍♀️😂 but honestly , I have stopped comparing my child to others because it stresses me out. I am a stress pot as is.

she commented on this post but I seemed to have missed it so must’ve been deleted 😂

Hahaha. 🤦‍♀️😂

@Mel s Shocking. That is horrible. She must be lacking something in her life to have to put a child down to make herself feel better.

I totally get this. My daughter didn't walk until this month (27 months!) which means she there must be something I did wrong as a mother and therefore I need advice and judging! 🙄

Each child has their own pace and different strengths. I just tried to reassure myself that they all catch up in the end...you never see a child crawling into their first day of school!

There are enough people out there dragging us down, this should be a supportive environment. My daughter isn't the best walker, talker or counter and is nowhere near nappy trained, but she is amazing just as she is, she makes everyone smile and she'll do everything in her own time. Don't let them grind you down. For every boaster on here are more people who want to support and help you.

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!
