Episiotomy

Hey. Yeah! I had an episiotomy and had a tear too with quite alot of stitches. Just plain water and soak and then if you can air dry. No soaps or wiping with a towel xx

I was told no by one midwife & yes by another! So I just did it anyways! Just water & don’t soak too long x

Yeah I had a shower the following day, not sure about a full on bath though… I just couldn’t wait and it made me feel abit better!
I needed to freshen up as the pain from the episiotomy is horrendous 😂 x

I think it depends if you have dissolvable stitches or not. I did so they told me to shower and not bath and not for too long as there is a risk of dissolving them and obviously you don’t want them to dissolve too early!

Yeah I had dissolvable ones too and got told to just shower & not bath until healed

I had dissolvable stitches and had a bath 24 hrs after birth 🤷‍♀️🤣

I had dissolvable stitches and I've not had a bath only showering since birth. No soap down there.

I was told no long bath for 6-8 weeks but you can get in to have a wash and straight out I tried to have a soak and dissolved my stitches my episiotomy popped open I don’t recommend having a bath yet x

For the first two weeks I just showered and used no soap but by the end of the two weeks everything was so uncomfortable and sore from bleeding and not being able to properly feel clean so I ran a shallow warm bath with a tiny bit of baby bath had a little soak and then used the shower head to rinse off and let air dry, it helped with the pain I was feeling after too! x

yeah just don’t use harsh soaps x

I was told not for 4-6 weeks, the stitches are dissolvable so water is the worst thing for them!
