Can anyone offer any advice. My LO has never been the best eater but I'm growing increasingly concerned about the lack of food he's eating. He will try most things but spit then out however will always devour his yogurt and enjoys munching on a bit of bread/toast.
He will have a good go with fruit but it's the evening meal and most of lunch that he refuses, turns away from or spits out. Breakfast tends to be our winner - porridge, Weetabix or shredies wheat.
Where am I going wrong? Feel we are fast approaching 1y/o and should be eating more. He's breastfed so I know he's getting fair nutrition from that but I know this isn't enough. Help please!

No advice really, just wanted to say my daughter is the same. She’s never been a big eater but since she had a stomach bug she’s literally been refusing ALL vegetables, even sweet potato that she used to quite enjoy. She’s never accepted meat or fish, will only sometimes have a few spoons of a store bought purée containing a bit of meat… Loves fruit, yogurt and nut butters. Is okay with porridge and eggs.
Tonight I made vedge in the oven and chicken drumstick. She had a tiny bit of potato, was disgusted and that was it. Didn’t even have a go at the chicken.
I honestly don’t know what to do. I started with vedge, offered her variety, did all the things they recommend, but she only likes very limited things. I’m honestly dreading it’s a starting of picky eating phase some toddles have…

i literally could have written this🤯🤯 it’s infuriating making all these nutritional meals for it to be chucked on the floor😭
i’m hoping that one day he just starts eating it all😅 but for now, porridge, yoghurt and fruit pouches will have to do!

Yup, same here and a big source of stress for me considering 12 months feels so close..?
My LO started well but the more we go, the fussier he gets. And a bout of norovirus set us back to almost zero.
Now he will accept yoghurt, some fruits and fruit pouches only if they are smooth, plus a bit of porridge and only spinach/pea homemade puree. Oh and every kind of melty stick/snack 🫠. He spits out anything textured and won’t even pick up veg or meat BLW, or even homemade pancakes or fritters.
I even tried ice cream and chocolate recently in desperation and he looked disgusted at the idea. 😝
So, please know you’re not alone!

literally same🤣🤣 i made blueberry sheet pancakes and he wouldn’t touch it, give him a melty stick and he’ll devour it
my HV said that he’s just letting me know he’s in charge🤣🤯
he will eat meat though, loves sucking/gumming chicken tuna and steak
Well that's reassuring that we aren't alone in this.
It's so soul destroying spending so much time making meals of different variations and it being thrown on the floor or rejected like you are trying to feed them something awful. I love a wee banana pancake but nope not my LO.
And yes the melty puffs or kiddilicious Waggers, he just needs to hear the rustle of the wrapper and he gets excited and wants them.😂

Thank goodness for the wafers! I just got back from a trip to Cape Town (where I’m from originally) and luckily they stock the same ones.
I bought the entire stock at one of the supermarkets! They are the only thing that placate my LO when he’s in a high chair or car seat for more than 5 minutes 😝

They say food is really a “play” experience for them until they’re one. My son was exactly the same until literally a week ago. I found cutting the food up into bite size bits and putting it on my fork seemed to help him eat. He wouldn’t swallow anything before other than porridge or melty sticks etc!! Just keep preserving. I read a thing that says even if they’re just tasting the food that counts! Xx
