30 free hours calculation

If it's a private nursery they all work differently e.g some friends of mine get charged £15 a day/session sustainability charge and some get charged £5 per session (5hrs sessions).
I can't really compare as we're only using 18hrs (stretched) at our current nursery and 12hrs at a school nursery, but our private nursery fees have dropped by £300 for the two days she goes. X

@Izabela do you have a term time only contract or are you stretching the 30hrs over the school holidays?

It's so difficult, our school nursery seemed surprised when I put our name down last May for this April but then they were advertising spaces in autumn.

We get 22 free hours a week as the nursery is open 51 weeks a year and funding is term time only (38 wks). Then our nursery charges £1.88 for every funded hour = £41.36 a week for additional costs.

It depends on your nursery, my current one charges £5 on top of the free hours so our bill has dropped by £400 but is still £1000 this month! I’ve checked our local pre school & 30 hours free is exactly that completely free for 30 hours less food. Whole system is still a mess 😌

My daughter goes 21.5 hours a week and they allow you to bank the hours so we can use the banked hours for holiday club.. the manager said she's calculated that this means the 30 hours will cover her every week they're open. They are a non profit nursery so not sure if that makes a difference x
