My almost 4 week old suddenly only wants to nap on me during the day. He’s generally OK in his bassinet at night; but starting yesterday during the day just does not sleep unless he’s in my arms or on my chest. Even if he’s sound asleep when I put him down he then wakes up. Anyone have experience with this / advice? I’m all for contact naps but would rather not be every single one during the day 😭

Hi my soon to be 4 week old did the same with me and what worked for me was I would take off my shirt that I was wearing and put it in his bassinet so when I would lay him down he would still have my scent with him. I would stay in the room during that nap to make sure he was ok as once technically he’s not allowed to have anything in his bassinet but I was keeping an eye on him the whole time. If this puts a dent in your plans for the day as in like chores, I would just bring it with me so I can work on it while he was sleeping so that I can stay with him and monitor him the whole time

I wouldn’t do this for every nap only when I saw he wouldn’t go down unless I was holding him. Oh I also bought this swaddle and it made such a huge difference I would do the shirt this and put this swaddle on him and he slept sooo well during his naps

I’m dealing with this right now! I put the snuggle me on my bed next to me and I just am doing supervised naps. Picking her up if she starts crying, but putting her right back down when she’s soothed to try to break EVERY nap being a contact nap.

Definitely give this combo a try it might work for you!

We had to go step by step. Contact nap, when she's asleep id put her on the floor next to me (could put in crib but i tried to minimize movement and keep her close), when she'd stir i place a hand on belly or head to let her know im there. Eventually increase time between hand on her then we were able to put her in crib and walk away.

This was me yesterday and my baby is just shy of 3 weeks old. I had a lot of friends suggest wearing him in a sling while I did house work. But we actually found upping his food intake today seems to have helped keep him less clingy/more sleepy.

you could try letting her cry for a minute or 2 just to see if she’s actually crying or just live sleeping which my son does a lot he will cry in his sleep and then stop and make weird sounds which is normal. Try not to jump right in as soon as she cry’s and try letting her sooth herself back to sleep. Now if after a few minutes she’s still crying and you can tell her crying is getting louder as if she’s hungry or needs a change etc. then pick her up and do what you normally do to sooth her. Once she’s dosing off you can try putting her down and just patting her gently so that she knows you are still there but she’s no longer in your arms

That was happening to me too but we changed to the halo newborn swaddle and it’s the only way she stays asleep.
