So I (FTM) began giving my baby solids at 6 months, just started with mashed avocado mixed with breast milk (he’s EBF), banana, sweet potato like the first week or so, one meal a day. It wasn’t consistent afterwards but would still introduce the food at least once a day when he’s interested. He’s 7 months and 3 weeks, and we’re still in purées, in addition to avocado, banana and sweet potato, he’s also had blueberries and zucchini, and currently working on carrots and then broccoli next. (i tried giving him egg, fully cooked, but he kind of gagged and choked and my husband got worried he aspirated but he’s completely fine now, but we have tried BLW with the foods I mentioned.)
My confidence level in giving my son solids is pretty low (plus groceries and finances is a whole different topic) so we haven’t dove deeper into giving him more solids like what i’d see on social media… I just want to know if there are any other mamas out there who are on the same boat? like… I barely give my baby solids and if any, it’s purées/in one of those mesh/silicone popsicle things and he’d really only try it once a day….
**disclosure, he’s eating fine, still nursing and definitely a snacker all day with the boobie lol**

I mostly give my son purées cause he has no teeth & I get nervous he might choke but he wants to try everything so we give him lil bits of our food so he can smash up with gums but he is mostly on purées 3 times a day , you should get in the program wic they give you baby food & baby cereal for free

I was at first but solid starts app does great at giving tips on how to serve certain foods for certain ages! I gave my son pancakes and he did well. Bigger is better when it comes to serving solids. I still have moments but the anxiety goes away the more I give him foods

5th baby here... I don't give solids every day. My son is 8 months old now. He is also EBF. He loves food but doesn't always show interest in food beyond breast milk. I personally mix the baby cereal with the purees because he likes it a little thicker. He loves scrambled eggs. He also has no teeth. Yes the scariest part about BLW is the fear of choking. The hardest thing is knowing the difference between gaging and choking. Gaging is GOOD because that means their gage reflux is working properly to prevent them from choking. If you notice they are gaging a bunch then you need to give smaller pieces. My son has had eggs, bread, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade chili (the juices), biscuits and gravy (mostly gravy) and other random small bites of my plate for solid foods. He has tried many of the baby food purees in meats, fruits, veggies and mixed. Also by adding the baby cereal to the purees it makes it thicker but still thin enough to swallow without choking....

....I notice my son "chews" his purees before swallowing. He is really good at chewing his eggs as well. I also make sure he sees me eating too and can see that I am chewing. It helps them learn by mimicking you. Don't over stress on giving or not giving solids at this point anything before one is optional and not necessary as they need breast milk/ formula still primarily for their nutrition. I also noticed that after I gave my son these teething rolls things he really started chewing more on his food. I will post a picture of them.

Just do what you’re comfortable with. It sounds like you’ve allowed him to try more than most!
And food before one is just for fun. Keep introducing stuff even if it’s purées but try slowing making it more solid as time goes on and and they get more teeth, you’ll get more comfortable
