Baby sleep and sleep advice don’t make sense 😂

Sleep training—how in the world do you do this?? 😂 I feel like you have to pay stupid amounts for an online course to get any real info about how to do it. And there are loads of different methods. But if your baby is overtired then they won’t sleep anyway, but your baby gets overtired by trying to get them to fall asleep on their own! Feel like we can’t win 🙈

My daughter is 4.5 months and slept through like a miracle till mid-February when she’d wake up super early in the morning for a feed but would go back down till 7 or 8am. About a month ago she started waking between 2 and 4am for a feed and her naps got super short and she had to be held. She woke for the day between 4:30-5:30 for a couple weeks but the time change helped and now she gets up between 6 and 7. But she’ll wake anywhere from 11pm to 4am for a feed. It’s all over the place and I don’t know if it’s teething, growth spurt, regression, or what! She wakes up several times in the night and settles herself unless she needs something.

I’m also trying to get her to nap in her cot and she was getting the hang of it till a couple days ago. Now she will not be put down and screams till I hold her. So she’s not sleeping enough in the day, which I’m sure is affecting her nighttime sleep. But how am I supposed to prevent overtiredness if she won’t nap long enough and I can’t get her back to sleep? 😂

Her bedtime routine is solid but it involves feeding and then settling her to sleep. We start bedtime around 7/7:30pm. She’ll spit up if we put her down less than 30 minutes after feeding so I don’t know how we’re supposed to let her fall asleep independently at night, unless we change her routine and feed her way earlier, meaning my husband and I won’t get to have a decent dinner together and she probably won’t be tired enough, which will be awful for all of us 🙈 we’re so tired we go to bed when she does so we don’t put her down and have evenings together. I know everything is temporary with babies but it feels like this has been going on for years. If this has been the regression we’re coming up on two months and I feel dumb for thinking she’d always sleep through!

Thanks for reading my novel. I just feel like I can’t get to grips with all this and hope I’m not the only one who’s totally confused! 🤣

I second this, we are in week 7 of the regression stage and I’m exhausted. Wakes every 2 hours and wants feeding. Tries to refuse naps in the day but then has melt downs because she’s over stimulated or had too long wake window. Hope it comes to an end for us all asap xx

the naps are the worst! Mine wakes herself up screaming and I can’t get her settled. Then it’s just damage control till bedtime 😅 it’s crazy how they’re so sleepy but just won’t sleep! 7 weeks!! Ugh I hope you’re at the end very soon! That sounds like agony 😣

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!
