Same! He kinda says car and cow but it’s really hard to tell the difference 😅& My son doesn’t say mama yet only dada. We watch Ms.Rachel he doesn’t mimic me when we do word activities so I still put on Rachel at least once a day so he will mimic her.

This happened to my son when he was around the same age. He’s 3 now and can’t stop talking lol but We watched Ms. Rachel and she helped out a bit but I started having him watch older shows like teletubies on Netflix, Elmo’s world on YouTube, Barney on Netflix. We cut cocomelon out cold turkey 😅 maybe you could try that. Hope this helps 🫶🏼

Since your mom can't talk much can she put on songs like head shoulders knees and toes and point? Or if she's able to take him to a library hour where he can hear more language? Not sure with her diagnosis what she can do physically or mentally but those would be more active than just screentime. If screens I'd do old school stuff like sesame Street, Mr Rogers as they did a lot slower and more call and response than some of the new stuff.

This is still so young. Mine didn’t really start saying things until 18 months. And from 18-24 is a huge growth in language. Don’t worry. I would ask the doctor about your mom. Does she use sign language?

physically and mentally she’s completely fine, she just has no voice. She plays songs throughout the day on her phone but I’ll look into library hour!

that’s good to know. Yes, she uses lots of sign language with him but he just hasn’t started mimicking it yet.

Does he use a pacifier when he’s not sleeping? I’ve heard that pacifier use during waking hours can also inhibit talking.

I was concerned about this with my son until I googled that around 18 months is when they should have more vocabulary. My son makes the same sounds. He’s trying to say dog though lol

no pacifiers ever, he has hated them since day one.

my baby isn’t even saying anything other than bababababa BUT he isn’t walking either and is getting physical therapy for that and they say when his gross motor skills improve his speech should come 🤷🏻‍♀️

i would have your mom play miss rachel for babies, if not on the screen at least like an audio book from an ipad or iphone so your baby can hear it

My girl only says a handful of words and even then they arent super clear. She babbles a lot though but she's very observant so I'm not concerned yet

My son only says Mama and Dada and Titi (his aunt) and that's only when he wants to, only once in a while will he do it if I ask him to 🤣 He has also said hi, and stinky a couple times and what sounded like I love you, once. He will be 15m on the 27th!
