How on Earth can you teach a baby to self settle without using the cry it out method? My LG currently feeds to sleep for all naps and bedtime and I want my partner to be able to help put her down. I’m unable to express so all milk is from me directly. Thanks x

Dummy. I was anti dummy with my first, lasted a week with my second before i caved in. She spits it out as soon as shes asleep. I know not everyone loves them. But results in two happy children here as i can spend quality time my son whilst our baby naps.

I’d recommend the Just Chill Mama courses. One of her methods is controlled crying (not the same as cry it out) but there are also more gentle options too.

For my baby…I have a show in the background and she will fall asleep watching 🤣
I either hold her in the rocking chair as she watches or I roll her to her side or she rolls herself to her side and watches

I have only had 1 successful nap that he didn't fall asleep on me first. He was laying on the sofa and I had my hand on his chest and was shhhing him. I also moved him side to side using the hand that was on his chest. It took 30 minutes of consistency, he whinged a little but he eventually gave in x

In my experience you have to work on it by first getting timing right, I roughly worked to age wake windows, then put them down and face away but keep your hand on them, patting, shhhhhing etc until they fall asleep. After a few days once they've gotten used to this stop shhhing but leave your hand then work up to not having your hand on them.

can you explain more about working to the wake windows / timing?

I used the huckleberry app which helps with this and also follow fox and the moon on Instagram and they give guides to how long your baby can stay awake. So for example at the moment my lo can be awake around 1 1/2 hours so once they've been up that long I'll try for a nap. It can make getting them to sleep quicker and easier, especially if baby only really shows tired signs when they are overtired.

The 5 Ss from the happiest baby on the block!! Put quickly: white noise, rocking, skin to skin, swaddle because the last one is sucking which a dummy can help with!).
