Hi all, I have some questions I’ve been thinking about and wanted to know your thoughts.
My boy is now 16 weeks old. He’s currently having just over 6oz which is 180ml a feed but he’s having to be fed every 2 hours as he gets really grumpy as soon as 2 hours sets in. First question, shall I up his feeds even if he may not drink it all?
Second one is when we eat our dinner, he sits in his bouncer on the table so he can see us which is likes to do, but he’s cries when he watches us eat food 🥺 so my second question is, could he be starting to get ready for weaning which I could possibly start nearly 4/5 months of age?
Thanks xx

I saw a lactation consultant twice when my LO was 13 and 15 weeks. She said that if your baby has good head control and shows interest in food, then you can start them on solids :) it doesn’t have to be a lot, infact it won’t be, it’ll just be tasting things, but you sure can.
By 16 weeks I had given my baby a few simple things egg yolk, mashed banana, a steamed mashed sweet potato, I grated an apple and strained it to give her a taste of fresh juice of apple. All of this is just a small taste over different days, to introduce her to taste and texture, it’s not a meal nor milk replacement.
But give it a go, I’m sure your baby will love it!

Yes up his feeds.
He doesn’t need solids yet as his digestive system won’t be ready. The absolute earliest you can start is 17 weeks, but that’s still not the recommendation. Watching you eat isn’t a developmental sign of readiness.
