@Luba my boy isn’t even taking 20oz throughout the day and all my HV and doctor said was look out for dehydration. They never mentioned anything I can do to help it’s so stressful
I think if they are having less than 28oz in 24 hours you are recommended to reduce their solids intake, because they need the milk more for nutrition. Once they are drinking better you can reintroduce solids.
@Kate I was told to up the solids as he wasn’t drinking with or without solids so it’s better to have something Rather than nothing but of course if baby will take milk without solids then that’s preferable
Oh I see! Sorry I read it as if you'd started solids and then baby has gone off milk.
Can you mix their milk in? Into cereal, porridge, scrambled eggs, custard, rice pudding, Mac and cheese etc. if they won’t take it out of a bottle sneak it into them!
We’re in the same boat, just following her lead as I was really distressing her trying to get her to take more milk. I’ve been advised it’s ok, my first baby was also the same. We’re probably averaging 15oz in 24hrs but she’s doing amazing her her food and sipping more water.
I’ll add, if nappies weren’t wet I’d be worried but she’s absolutely fine.
I have upped her morning and bedtime bottle to 8oz, sometimes takes all but not always. Not stressing as she’s eating more throughout the day and seems to be well 👍🏼 We are getting a lot of wet and dirty nappies (every other change), putting this down to the solids 😂🙈
Mine is doing that. He’ll drink 2-3oz of each bottle during the day. I give him 9oz before bed and he takes that and I cook all his food with milk. The health visitors have said this is normal for baby to start to reduce their milk intake, as long as they have around 20oz per day and their meals are varied and nutritious x
