My son is 15 weeks and he’s not yet consistently turning to noise / voices. Is this normal? I think he does sometimes but other times he’s oblivious.
If he sees me he turns but if he can’t see me and I make a noise he won’t turn.
So worried

Mine is 17 weeks and it’s not consistent. Some days I feel really worried about it and other days I tell myself I’m being silly. I don’t know. But it’s exactly the same as you where sometimes he will turn but other times completely oblivious!

18 weeks here and not consistent- I think they have selective hearing lol

Just out of interest for those who commented on this, have your babies started doing this now, when did this happen?
My LB is 15 weeks and definitely isn’t doing this yet, the HV said we should test his hearing but he definitely reacts to sounds and noises just doesn’t look for them!
TIA ❤️

Yes definitely! 9 months now and a nosy parker and looks to see where every noise is coming from lol. I cant remember exactly but definitely been more consistently responsive the last few months- around 5/6 months they get a lot nosier and more easily distracted!

thanks for much, I’d started to worry a little about his hearing given the HV last visit but he passed the newborn screening and does respond to loud noises but shows no interest in me or anyone else when we try and get his attention x

Yes! 9 months responds to name and wants to know where every sound is coming from, like ceecee I would say this started happening more around 5/6 months and I wish I hadn’t worried about it before. X

And I should add that mine was the same he would jump out of his skin at sounds so I knew he could hear, but would never turn his head to see where it’s coming from, but he definitely does now!
