How many swaddle/receiving blankets do you actually need? Is 20 going overboard?

Thanks for all the replies! 💝

swaddles i used around 5 i got a ton on receiving blankets and only used them when she was first born since she was so small so maybe 2-3

I had loads and only used around 5 but my daughter wasn’t a refluxy/sicky baby

My LO hated swaddles so I’m happy I only got three to begin with. Blankets I have about 5, all different materials and warmth.

I have 5 sleeping bags as well, with two different tog.

Blankets - we only ever used 2 (one in the car and one in her buggy). We've got good heating in the house, plus it started getting warmer.
Swaddles - only used for sleep and she hated the wrap style ones so they were only used a few weeks before I got the sleeping bag ones that are a bit stretchier.
Muslins is what you need a bunch of - in all different sizes! We have little 20cm² ones, 45cm² ones, and massive 120cm² ones. They're used as changing mats, dribble wipes, snot rags, wash cloths, swaddling, thin blankets, under her in the buggy to protect the mattress. Honestly we have about 25 and they're all used, and will likely be used well into childhood!

Sorry I misread the post.
Blankets - only used 2
Swaddles - my daughter only liked 1 particular one (an arms up one)
Muslins - only used around 5. This is what I had loads of and they were wasted.

3 large muslins and 5 small ones

Think I have about 5 of each and just going to see how that goes #clueless 😂🙈

20 is far too many! You will end up with unused ones xx

20 is probably a bit much. We wound up with 10-12 I think and definitely had more than enough- we used them for multiple things as well.

Avatar

You're set for life with 20. Even if they get sick on them a few times a day you're looking at laundry every 4-5 days and still be fine.

We had 4 Velcro swaddles (2 different brands) and just rewore them until one got dirty

Avatar

We had like 6 with Velcro and that was enough because we reused them until they got messy. Never really used receiving blankets but burp clothes are a must get at least 2 for every day babies spit up so much.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!
