Weaning advice

Hi everyone, my little boy 👦 💙 is just over 7 months old and I official commenced weaning when he was 6 months old (though I had offered him some tastes etc at 5.5 months).

Anyway, I started him off with 1 meal per day - it was either breakfast or lunch.
Now he is 7 months I have started offering 2 "meals" (breakfast and lunch) per day, and my plan is to increase him to 3 meals per day by the time he is 8-9 months as he is still having 630ml of milk in a 24 hour period (he has 3 x 7 ounce bottles).

Does this sound correct?

I've been feeling so overwhelmed/ anxious etc and done a lot of research and from that I have gathered that we build up to 3 meals per day by about 8-10 months.

I would just do what works for you and your baby, we are having 3 meals a day but only because I find it easier for him to eat when I do. Every baby is different and some want more food than others, we haven’t really progressed past purées and toast though so whilst he eats frequently he’s not doing BLW.
I haven’t done masses of research, our baby has allergies to CMPA, soya, egg, peanut and tree nuts so have been seeing dieticians (who all give conflicting advice), it seems there isn’t a right way to wean and even the professionals have different opinions, try not to worry and if he seems hungry give him food and if he doesn’t want it don’t worry about it. He will get there and as he eats more you’ll relax more and find your groove.

It sounds right, a weaning baby needs 500-600ml of milk in a 24 hour period. My little boy has been having 3 meals a day for around a month now so we’re starting to drop a bottle from 3 to 2 as he no longer needs it he is full!

Thank you 😊 for your advice both of you.

@Lauren when did you start giving 3 meals per day? Was it close to 8 months, hun?
Also hun, did you say your little one is only on 2 bottles per day now?
So since I started weaning when Jacob was 6 months we have just managed to cut him down to 3 feeds per day alongside his 2 meals, but once I add a 3rd meal in, hopefully he'll want less than the 3 bottles you think?

so around 7 months we introduced lunch as he just wasn’t satisfied with only milk, he’s really good at giving certain signs for hunger etc, he was only having breakfast and tea with 4 bottles throughout the day. When I introduced his lunch within around a week he dropped down to 3 bottles and now he’s having bigger portions he started not wanting his 1pm bottle or will take like 2oz of it and would just cry so we cut it out around a week ago and he’s been absolutely fine! He just has some snacks throughout the day to keep him full.

If this helps our routine is
6am wake up 8oz bottle
8am breakfast
9am nap
10:30am snack
12pm lunch
2pm small snack then a nap
5pm tea
7pm 8oz bottle and bed.

Yeah the more food you introduce the less milk he will start to drink, but as long as he’s having 500ml-600ml a day I really wouldn’t worry! There’s some days my little boy has 400ml then some days but I don’t worry cause I know he’s eating enough!

I hope that helped🙈 xx

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

People telling you your baby is hungry..

I know people don’t always mean it in a bad way and are trying to relate, but when people say my baby is hungry when chewing his hands. I feed him regularly. He eats pretty much every 2 hours. He isn’t hungry, he just loves chewing and exploring his hands. Or they say something about teething, which it is also not, as he isn’t unsettled with it. I have looked into it myself and can be common and neither of those things! He has done it most of the day since 2 months old.
