My 9 week old recently discovered his hands and when he gets sleepy he starts rubbing his face constantly with his hands. At night I have to swaddle him or he will wake himself up with his hands. What is everyone doing for naps? He is going to be starting daycare soon when I go back to work next month and I don’t want him to have to be swaddled for every nap in order to fall asleep. He also won’t be able to be swaddled once he starts rolling, but I don’t want him to not be able to fall asleep and stay asleep for nap time. If he doesn’t nap he gets overly tired which just makes him rub his face more with his hands.

It depends on what they will be doing at daycare. They probably will have all the babies on a schedule and routine. It maybe hard to replicate at home but not impossible.
The center for my twins dim the light and turn on soothing melodies. At home, I have black out curtains in the nursery and a white noise machine. I usually feed him in there while rocking him gently. When he is drowsy (but still a wake) I lay him in his crib.

I’ve been using the pjs with the fabric that can be pulled over my babies hand. Then it just seems like a blanket touching him and it doesn’t wake him up.

Ugh yes mine started this at 9 weeks and his face is all scratched and he wake up and starts going to town on his face and gets fussy. I swaddled a few nights but honestly he has to be in a sleep sack for daycare so I stopped using the swaddle and I’m letting him get used to it hands

has he started getting used to it? Mine has always been a good sleep but he woke up 4 times last night and just kept rubbing his face 😭

how long did it take her to get used to it?

You can try using a sleep sack with the wrap. That way he’ll still have the sensation of being wrapped but still have his arms out.
When my son started getting loose from the swaddle and touching his face, I would put his hand to his mouth to teach him that he could use his hand to soothe himself. Now he sucks on his hand to either fall asleep or put himself back to sleep for a nap. Other than that, I’m not sure. My daughter had a stuffy that she would suck on to fall asleep and comfort her during naps

no not yet! We just started doing it.
