Has anyone experienced this with their baby?
My little man is 3 months old and he used to occasionally do this but the last nearly three days now he's done almost every sleep.
He suddenly starts hysterically crying and thrashing about. Sometimes his eyes open briefly but mainly shut.
Thankfully it only lasts a couple minutes at a time but it's awful 😭 he sounds like he's terrified or in pain or in emotional distress.
I've tried looking online and it sounds like night terrors but it says it's very uncommon even for babies aged 18 months..he's only 3 months.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm going to get in touch with my health visitor about it again as the last time I mentioned it was only occasionally so she thought he may be begging to form dreams but she wasn't 100%.
I'm a first time mum and I'm so worried about him.

My son is 9 months old and he had one of those a couple nights ago. I also assumed night terrors but was concerned I was wrong due to research saying it was uncommon for younger babies. But I did find something linking night terrors in younger infants to overtiredness and he did have really short naps that day due to teething pain so he might have been overtired and it would make sense that he had a night terror. But still not sure. We have a ped appointment in the morning and I plan on asking about it.

My little guy (6 months) was doing this a week or two ago. It started with thrashing around and if it continued too long he would start doing a really sad cry. I just tried to snuggle him and tell him he was safe, one night it was so bad I had to pick him up and it ended up waking him and he settled right back to sleep. I told my doctor last week and she said it was probably night terrors. It seems to have passed now.

My oldest is 5 and had night terrors as a baby. I think they are probably more common than people realize and just are under reported and not studied enough.

My 2 month old gets them sometimes too. 💔

My son does this, sometimes nightmares, sometimes gas, sometimes a burp

Could it be reflux? X

You may try and increase magnesium rich foods or clean supplements. If EBF, then mom has to take it, if formula try and find a good clean supplement for infants

It's more worse for NICU babies. My baby boy seems to have it too most nights I have to hold him
He's born early and now 5 months old

Sounds like night terrors to me, my LB has had these from 2 months and he's going onto 9 months had his most recent one last week 🥲
Keep us updated what your dr says please! Drs won't really go towards night terrors, as scientifically, there's no evidence to suggest babies this young can actually dream and understand things that terrify them like there's no science BUT absence of evidence is not evidence of absence 🤷🏻♀️

my lil boy had this too at 3 months. we discovered it was night terrors from our doc. im so sorry you & baby have to go through this as well! my baby is about to be 5 months and he hasnt had a night terror in a while. there’s hope!

Believe it or not…. Could be teething
