I’m so miserable in this life. I’m a FTM and am obsessed with my baby— seriously, so in love. But I don’t like or love my partner. I feel so guilty and like I have to stick it out because we created this angel, and he’s a good person/good dad. We don’t get along that well, and arguments are triggered very easily, but all I hear from my family is to stay because being a single mom is hard and because “he’s not that bad.” Also, I finically can’t be on my own right now. I feel a sense of dread when he talks about us getting married. I’m getting depressed and don’t know if I have actual PPD, or if my relationship just depresses me… or both.

Hey, this sounds so tough.
What about the relationship is bad? It definitely sounds like it’s worth getting some help before making a decision. You don’t want to end it for the wrong reasons.
How old is your little one?
I felt like this towards my partner for a while because being a new mum was just so stressful and we were both finding our feet with being parents but we made it work and are now happily married (most of the time 😂 I think it’s normal for them to drive us crazy a bit)
But if the differences are things you can’t get past then it’s not going to benefit anyone for you to exhaust yourself pretending that things are okay when they’re not.
Hi, Amy. Thanks so much for responding. 😊 I hear what you’re saying, and I’m so glad that you were able to work it out with your partner and are happy! I don’t think it’s just a postpartum/new mom phase for me. I didn’t want to be with my partner before becoming pregnant. We’re way too different. Culturally, politically, communication styles, etc. We’re both good people, we just don’t match, in my opinion. I’m constantly on edge and anxious around him, happier when I’m alone with baby. 😔
