My LO who turned one recently has always been a bad eater.
She thinks of food as play time
She is more interested in feeding us
Even if she takes food in, it’s so we appreciate her and then spit it out
I feel so helpless because I spend so much time making new things for her but I just don’t know how to go about it
She wakes up multiple times at night for formula and relies heavily on milk.
She does not even eat food from pouches
Just does not open her mouth
I can’t tell if she is hungry or not.
I don’t understand why she isn’t interested in food
Do I need to get checked?
I just don’t know how to go about it

I wish I could help but I’m in the same boat

I would mention it to the pediatrician and see if they feel a speech therapy consult would be beneficial, they can assist with feeding issues. My daughter has been going because she didn't have much interest and when she did eat she would gag so they worked on eating techniques with her.
Thank you,
Really appreciate your advice!
I feel like she is interested in trying new things but she isn’t keen on eating it much
She’s try and spit it out or takes a few mites and then stops
Like if I don’t offer her any milk she drinks water melon juice for morning.
But the rest of the day, I doubt she gets any considerable nutrition from solids
It’s more so still from formula
She likes to self feed and gets severely upset when I feed her
But she is unable to eat properly with the spoon
Or certain textures, although she likes the taste of it, the texture of prawns for instance or orange might put her off
I’m just worried since she hasn’t really progressed in true sense since she was 6 months old
It’s been the same squishing, and some days of purée food intake
If I were to say, on average she gets 1 proper meal in
It’s definitely not 3 meals
She drinks about 500-600 mls a day
Always been in the 25th percentile
