My girl is 6, almost 7 weeks old. The only time I really can get any sleep is if I co-sleep which scares my husband and I. We really don’t have the safest bed to do that which is why we try to avoid. I’ve been following takingcarababies and trying to implement all of that advice which works well until it’s time to transfer her. The most I’ve gotten her to stay in the bassinet is an hour. Otherwise, she’s literally right back up in less than 5 minutes. Anyone else experiencing this or have any other tricks I could try?

Our son is the same, and we are also scared to co-sleep. We haven't figured out what to do

I got some advice from here that’s been really working well for the last 3 weeks. But basically put a heating pad on the bassinet mattress and when it’s time to transfer, take the pad off, the warmth of mattress will have baby feeling like they are still laying on you. I also blast a YouTube video of ocean waves and shushing(it’s a 10 hour video with a dark screen). before doing all this my son would only sleep in his bassinet for 10 mins max

this!! 👆🏻 Heating pad ftw! It works like a charm every single time. I also play "baby womb sounds" playlist on Spotify and it knocks her out every time since the crib is warm and she can still hear a heartbeat.

Try a heating pad first... but if that doesn't work---
If you're scared of cosleeping...how do you feel about contacting napping? (Contact sleeping at that point)
This babe....for me...will only contact nap, cosleep, or belly sleep. With his age, I feel belly sleeping overnight is not ok, so I either cosleep or contact nap with him every night. He will belly sleep for naps during the day when I can keep an eye on him.

glad we aren’t alone. We end up doing shifts at night , it’s so hard.

I need to try the heating pad!! I feel bad I tried to make my daughter sleep in silence , I forgot that in thr womb it’s noisy. 😭

I’ll have to try that sound!

she contact naps on me daily which is great. I feel fine about those since I’m wide awake. I know I’ll miss when she doesn’t need me to sleep anymore!

My daughter is the same (5 weeks old now)!! We have to contact sleep her all day and night...which means very little sleep or ability to get anything done for mom and dad. When we first brought her home we were able to swaddle her and we'd get a couple hours out of her in the bassinet, but that lasted about a week or so, and now she doesn't want her arms covered... so I'll try anything!!!

My husband and I co-slept with our daughter from the day she was brought home to about 5 weeks old then she started sleeping in her swing with a stuffed animal behind her to make it seem like she had someone with her to this day she won’t sleep laying flat on her back so we keep her in her swing and she sleeps all night she’s 2 months old now.

I’m glad I’m not alone! As she’s becoming more alert and aware of the world, the harder it seems to be lol. I did get her that love to dream sleep sack though and it allows her arms to be up! She seems to tolerate that more than the traditional tightly wrapped swaddle!

at this point, I’m ready to buy a new bed so I can co-sleep safely. My mattress is way too squishy. She hates her swing too all of the sudden, she loved it when she was born😑

I co sleepy with my boy I just leave a lot of room around him like he would in is bassinet . I use to sleep in the mummy position with him with my hand on his back no blankets just my rob to cover my arms. That was the only way he slept. He took a nap in my lap once while on his belly while I brushed his hair. Only twice have he cried himself to sleep

Try the heating pad in the bassinet, also swaddle or favorite sleep sack on. Try getting the baby used to the bassinet at their best sleep stretch or time, it could be during the day nap rather than at night and see how they do.

my mattress is super squishy which is why I don’t want to co-sleep right now, so nervous. If I can get a firmer mattress, I definitely would try! Trying to enjoy how much she loves sleeping on me before that becomes no longer though

I’m going to try to put her in there more for her daytime naps! I definitely have not been doing that so I’ll see if that helps. Thank you!

instead of a firmer mattress, look at just a firm mattress topper... Should be cheaper and more temporary (if you like a softer mattress for later)

I put my son bassinet on the side of the bed let the side down and co slept like that I just made sure it was leveled up with my bed so if he rolled he would roll on into that bassinet

I’ve been keeping my daughter in her bassinet RIGHT next to me on the bed. That was I can reach my hand in and rub her belly or give her little side pats which seem to help. I had a few days where she WOULD NOT SLEEP but I found out that even tho we followed layering for the temp of the room she was still cold. Once I solved that problem she was fine. It’s so much easier with her next to me tho so I don’t have to get fully up every time she fusses. I can just smooth her half asleep, put the pacifier back in her mouth etc

I didn’t even think of that, thank you!

my bed has a ledge around it so it doesn’t allow the bassinets to go right up against it perfectly but ideally I wanted to do that!

omg I’m so paranoid about her temperature. I always think she’s too hot in the sleeper plus swaddle. I get so worried.

@Julia ooo yes I got a few new ones we're going to try as well 🤞🤞

I had that fear at first too, when I changed her diaper I would feel her and check her temp. Or when she was sleep I’d reach my arm in and feel her neck. I also looked up what to dress newborn in 68° room (I like it cold). I alsoooo have a no touch thermometer in my diaper caddy 😅 paranoid is an understatement. I learned what works best with her tho and I stick to it now. It’s all touch and go with a newborn, gotta just learn what works best for both of you
