Had both my babies at the JR. Both on the delivery suite, as i had Preeclampsia. Can't fault the care was excellent!

The John Radcliffe is fantastic, although maternity is very busy! The Horton is a lot quieter, providing you have a straight forward birth and no complications. Otherwise you'd need to be transferred to the JR Xx

i had my first in the delivery suite of the JR in 2021 and was happy with no complaints. i wanted to go spires for a water birth but due to bleeding i couldn't. with some complications at the end of the birth, it got scary but the staff were great and i cannot fault them.

i just had my second and wanted it in spires so that if anything happened like my first labour, i was in a hospital. my midwife spoke to me about the local birthing unit the day i went into labour. i last minute decided to go there when labour hit and i am so glad. it was such an amazing experience and thankfully i didn't have the same issues with my first labour.

i don't know what your first labour was like, what type of birth you want or what the birthing units around your area are like etc. but maybe worth looking into? X

I live in Banbury, and gave birth at the Warwick Hospital.
It was a good experience BUT
If you live in a different country to the birth, we could not keep our lovely community midwife. When we were discharged from the Warwick, we were then under the care of the Horton Midwives, so had no continuity with the lady I felt I knew.
AND
We gave birth at a different county to where we lived, so when we registered the birth they were not able to do this in the Banbury Registry office- they took the details down to send to Warwickshire who then posted us the certificates.

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

2nd pregnancy after c section

I’m not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon but in the future possibly. I just wanted to know how is pregnancy after c section like my fear is having to go through another emergency operation or even putting strain on my incision during pregnancy

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
