Is it just me? Literally Ick. I guess everyone’s situation is different.

Or bonus mom

Is it because you associate it with a negative connotation?

Interesting, I much rather prefer that then the term step kid or step mom.

I’m with you. It’s the same with “hubby” for me

It makes more sense for some families than others. I'd never use it, but for some, it really fits.

I don’t like it but I use it because people seem to look down on the word step kids and I don’t like saying my kids so…. 🤷♀️

My husband doesn’t like it either. He feels like it others them more. He prefers just saying kid/my kid or saying the technical/legal term of step kid.

SAME! if i’m explaining our blended family to someone new then i’ll say my bonus son otherwise they are ALL MY kids

We use the term at my older SD's preference. She didn't like "stepmom" initially because "stepmom are mean" (thanks, Disney, lol), and would just call me "mom" but that got confusing when she had to distinguish between BM and me. So she settled on "bonus" because it has that positive connotation of something extra that you love. Every family is different, though!
