I feel bad putting on cartoons everytime I have a meeting with my toddler (2yrs). If he gets distracted and runs over he says hello and screams but I don’t want to be mad at him, how do people do it? This is like having two full time jobs at the same time.

It is literally having two full time jobs! I try to schedule any flexible meetings around his nap times. Doesn’t always work so just have to be really creative with turning my mic/ camera on and off. He’s in nursery three days so only wfh with him 2 days so I use the other days to get a bit more done.
Sorry nothing really helpful to say but that it is really difficult.
I manage feeling bad by remembering that the work I do is what gives us the life we have and I just make sure to be really present and limit screen time during the weekend.

Meetings are only small snapshots of the day, so some cartoons to fill 30-60 mins is totally fine.
I’m a pro now at mute and blurred background. I also place my screen higher so my camera is chest and up only, so a toddler running into the room can’t be seen. Tbh she tends to walk in, ask if I’m okay and then leave.
It gets easier! Routine is great, do you block out your calendar for lunch? I use that hour to entertain her, feed her, do some things together and then put her to nap. Then I get 2 hours every afternoon like clockwork for nap time. That guarantees me time for solid working/drafting etc.
I’m also a flexi worker so sometimes I will pick up a task after bedtime so I’m
2 steps ahead before tomorrow xx

Erm nursery lol

Wow I can’t imagine trying to work and look after a toddler. That surely can’t be possible? your child could go to nursery while you’re working, Or a child minder. You can get 15 hours for free. Also do your work allow you to look after kids while working? If not be careful you don’t get caught or your job might be on the line. I know my employer has fired someone for doing that. Having a child running around while you’re working must be so stressful, hope you can sort something soon

I put her in daycare. The mom guilt was eating away at me. She ended up so behind socially because I was working from home and she watched tv and played mostly by herself. I tried to engage her as much as possible but I couldn’t give it my all 100% of the time.
