My husband is absolute f***ing trash

He’s a deadbeat parent… I can barely call him a parent.. he’s not hands on, he doesn’t do much for the baby except buy him wasteful toys and he is absent. He will prioritise anyone and anything over us

He has no patience when our baby cries.. he will tell our BABY off.. tell him to shut up, call him a pest, a wuss and then when I stick up for our baby and say don’t talk to him like that he will call me an unsupportive, shit wife

He says I “do nothing all day” and “don’t work (I’m on mat leave…)” and that i “don’t know how stressful life is when you work full time” and that I should go back to work and that I’m a dumbass who sits at home

I look after our baby 24/7.. all his appointments, all his classes, most of the housework… his bedtime daily, his feeds pretty much everything
My husband plays with him for 15 mins after work and is done

Everyday is a battle because he’s “stressed at work” and just won’t be calm about anything and will take it out on us

I am sick of it. I want to get out but I am really reluctant to share my baby with him and fear that he will not let me
Leave amicably and will just make it more toxic for me…

What do I do.. desperate for help

He will call you an unsupportive, shit wife because you refuse to let him verbally abuse his own baby?... I'd happily wear that title if it means you're standing up for your baby. He sounds like a rat to be honest.

If his job is so stressful that he's taking it out on his own little family every day then he either needs to grow a back bone and take it out on the people at work causing his stress or he needs to get a new job!

I hate men like this, lazy, horrible, just expect everything but want to give nothing 😕

Honestly I'd say start making an exit plan because men like this only get worse, if you have any money you can save then do that, if you have family you could stay with until you get a place then go, or if you're in the UK you will be entitled to social housing so you'll get a council or housing association house or flat, if you tell them you're homeless and leaving a toxic and verbally abusive relationship they should hopefully fast track your application and get you somewhere.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, sending you lots of love and I do really hope you're okay.

Please pop me a message if you need to chat 💓

Then he should stay home and be a full time dad, cleaner, chef etc, while you go back to work. Let’s see how well he does

Start collections evidence of him talking to the baby this way. That can see as unfit. And potential abuse in the future to courts. He would probably just get supervised visits. I would also start documenting how he talks to you as well. And keeping EVERYTHING hush hush. Find somewhere to go when it’s D day. You said maternity leave so job isn’t an issue but I’d inform your work two weeks prior to when you
Plan on leaving cause he may try to show up there. Start a secret bank account, email, everything. Start taking boxes of stuff out of the house that you’ll be taking I’d say one a week. That way the gradual change won’t be noticeable to him. And if you’re desperate desperate to get away I’d say start making an exit plan to leave the state or the USA. Or if you’re not in the US. Leave that country. Get a new phone. Different phone plan switch once your to your new state or if you stay in that state keep it cause it’s a different phone, plan a number.

If you guys have a joint bank, the day you leave stop at bank and take all your money out. Do not touch his. He can and most likely will come after you for that. Get a recipe that you only pulled from
Your joint.

I’d definitely start looking for a new house before anything and get that secured. Secondly when he’s at work I’d slowly start to moves clothes etc in small amounts things he wouldn’t notice and leave the things I wouldn’t miss, the babies things can always be replaced as babies grow but you definitely need to get out of there as you don’t want you’re son to learn his narcissistic ways or become a misogynist

I’m in the exact same situation he is horrible but I can’t afford to leave and also don’t want to co parent cause I don’t trust him with our son 😔 I feel trapped

You don't do anything all day but he's the one that can't handle a fussy baby less than part time. What a fucking clown

From a personal perspective my best advice is to leave, I lived in a similar situation with my kids dad and fast forward to 2 years I met a man on a dating app who goes far beyond my expectations as a step dad and partner for our family. Leaving is scary, yes! As a mom we have to do what’s best for our babies even if it means instability and chaos in the midst of both parents splitting up. It’s rewarding to see the outcome in your self and your kid(s) as time passes. Best of luck mama!

Nursery funding

My child turned 9 months last week. I applied for government funded hours nearly 2 months ago and so well within the required timeframe for the April term, however upon receiving my first invoice without the funding applied and having questioned this, I have now been informed that the stretched funding doesn’t start until 4th May.

Has anyone else been told it won’t start until May?

The government site states it should start from April 1st, and so I intentionally set my nursery start and return to work as the start of April for that reason, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to afford the nursery on my sole income without the funding

Jealous of my husband

I’m so jealous of him and it’s making me resentful. We have a ten week old and I’m jealous that he is at work all day. I’m jealous he can leave for lunch and actually eat an uninterrupted lunch. Take a phone call uninterrupted. Chat with a friend he runs in to uninterrupted. Even go to the bathroom when he wants uninterrupted. He comes home from work when he wants. He’s not on a set schedule. Some days are late some are early. It depends on when he’s done. I’m jealous he can come home at 10pm and shower, eat and go right to bed uninterrupted because I already have the baby asleep. He doesn’t have to worry about anything house wise or baby wise because I’ve done it all. Meanwhile I’m covered in puke and crap and smell like rotten milk. When he is home he is VERY active and helpful. So it’s not that. I’m just jealous his world hasn’t changed and mine has I guess. This isn’t something he’s doing wrong so I’m not sure how to get past this. I wish I could keep him home all day because that’s how helpful he is, but I understand he obv needs to work.

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

He has no respect for anything to do with me.

Husband and I decided to separate 3 days ago. I've been sleeping on the floor in the kids room, and we both have to stay in the same apartment for a while. He wont stop pushing little things and I am reaching my limit. Photos in comments

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..
