Hi my little one turned 6 months on Monday the 6th we've just started introducing LO to purees and baby rice.
However LO has a little but when we give it but isn't showing a strong desire to actually want the food and I feel bad forcing them to have it we are just doing a bit until they start getting frustrated or other.
Anyone gone/going through a similar situation?
Any tips or advice or should I just keep attempting slowly until my LO takes more of an interest I'm concerened as I don't want to force to much and build a bad relationship with food however I'm following advice that I've read... help a mum out here

If they aren’t interested then they aren’t ready. Try again in a couple of weeks.

Plus at this age they only need little bits. It’s just exploratory and to get them used to it at this stage ☺️

That’s my understanding too. It’s advised to start once they show interest (such as reaching for your food / watching you eat intently), are able to bring food to their mouth, sit upright unaided, and for their tongue thrust reflex to have dissipated. I’d maybe hold off a few days and just keep watching for cues that they’re interested.

we started 5 days ago and the first day he didn’t seem interested so we just let him basically play. i was worried i should have held off but then his interest increased as the days went on and how he was eating a bit by day 3

You don’t have to start feeding them at 6 months some babies aren’t ready until closer to 7, some earlier etc xx If they aren’t trying to reach for your food when you’re eating or showing interest in eating the food you’re giving then maybe give it some time until they show the interest? The first day I gave my son food (BLW) he grabbed it by himself and put it to his mouth to try eat it so I could tell he was ready x

I’ve bought a couple of weaning books, ‘what mummy makes and Joe wicks wean in 15’, there was an offer on so 20 quid for them both, they go in to detail in to the weaning process aswell as recipes, found them both useful :) maybe worth getting :) x

I'd let them play with and explore the food themselves at this point rather than spoon feeding. It's not important for them to eat much at this point. Double ended spoons are great. I preload each end and he usually gets it in or around his mouth. Sticks of food are also great for them to play with.
Hi all, I attempted to try a baby led weaning side today and instantly, was grabbing for the food and having a go at it I think my baby just doesn't like the texture of puree 😅 thank you all for the advice I did listen and take it and they was showing the signs as they was reaching for our food and all that, just didn't seem to care about purees I appreciate all of you for you advice and help 😁
