i called recently and it’s 25 weeks from receiving the forms xx

do you know if you get it backdated or does it just start from the date they decide? Xx

i believe they backdate it! well at least that’s what i heard hahaha xx

aw okay thankyou! Xx

If you get them to post forms to you there's a date on there they will back date it from, I got told about 16 weeks but sent it in August and got it in December

the nursery has printed the forms out for me already xx

@Hannah then it will just backdate from the date they receive it

Yes exactly this! If the dla send the forms out, it will be backdated to the date they were requested.
I just received my letter confirming they received the form and they have said about a 16 week wait for a decision!

13 weeks out last application

I called today and they said they have a back log and will take up to 25 weeks. I applied in September x

I applied and sent off my forms by February 2024 for my then 2 year old, we were approved in August 2024 and we were backdated. I’m currently in the process for filling the forms out again for the mobility side x

We waited 20 weeks

20 weeks

Make sure you call them cause it will be backdated from the date that you rang to request rather than the date they received the form.

I think they have to be of a certain age to review for mobility

3 and over I believe my son meets the criteria

Thankyou all, the nursery she’s at has printed them off for me so will be sending them off asap xx

the lady from Quidz for Kidz that helped me fill in the form told me that my son wouldn’t be eligible for mobility until he’s 5 but then the form clearly states 3!

do you know the mobility one how do you go about that one? I know it’s too early yet for me to do this one but she still won’t walk far like after 5 mins walking she’s wanting picking up, or is that one for if they don’t walk at all? Xx

it’s all included in the main dla form. So there is a section about mobility and how far they can walk etc so they would work it out within one application!

this is not true. It’s backdated from the date they received the application, not from when you call.

mobility is reviewed at any age.
It’s just unlikely for them to receive it for a non physical disability under the age of 5 because under 5 they can only get the highest rate, which is very hard to prove for autism. But over 5 they can get middle or low component which you might have enough supportive evidence for.

that’s not what I was told. I was told by quidz for kidz (part of citizens advice) that if you phone DLA and get them to send the form out to you, that it gets backdated to then as that is the start of your application. Which is why they give you a deadline for when the form has to be returned to them.

not the case. If it is, we’re owed money😂 it’s backdated to the date stated on the application, not the date a phonecall took place

Yes you put the date it all started on not the date you apply. It's from when the needs have been met from we got 3 years backdate after a 10month wait

oh well I’m only going on what I was told!
And clearly you are owed money if Aimee had it back dated 3 years! Unless you applied as soon as needs started! X

it’s hard to get mobility for a 3 year old they will have to either be mentally impaired with a low IQ, physically impaired, etc. they will also need to be receiving high rate care award. My son has a congenital brain difference so he meets the criteria for mobility

@Melody I'm sure this was the case for my son, we're talking two years ago now though so things might of changed or I'm remembering incorrectly.

we just had ours awarded a few months ago end of 2024
must have changed or might vary by area😊
