Is anyone else struggling with the financial side of weaning and trying baby with new foods?
I know they say to give baby what you eat but were going quite slowly with it as little one is showing some potential Intolerances and is being referred to the allergy clinic so we're not on full meals yet.
Maybe I just need to plan and prepare more in my head but just finding the financial side off affording all the new things to try quite overwhelming.

I’ve decided that introducing baby to new foods would be lovely but making sure he’s comfortable eating things we eat regularly is more important so there are some things he’ll only try later on. Like for example parsnips, we never eat that, he can try that when we visit someone and they’ve cooked it.
We’ve been going for a month and I’m pretty sure he’s had broccoli almost daily because we have broccoli almost daily.
I think all these studies and whatever else it’s just not practical so you just have to aim for a balanced diet within your home and trust that your baby will be fine.

My baby hardly eats anything, she just explores the texture and taste so I don’t go out of my way to buy her anything different at the minute.
Before I cook my own meals, I separate out some of the ingredients to cook separately for her so she can have them without salt and without mixing allergens together etc. Then I’ll add in the odd thing for her if I want to tick some more new foods off the list.
@Nthabiseng thankyou for this, yeah once we get into the swing of it I think we'll be OK. It just seems this beginning stage of new foods and allergens is never ending.
@Shauni-Jade yeh we are definitely at that stage aswell where he is just sampling and feeling it rather than eating it all completely.

I wouldn't worry too much about giving them lots of different stuff. It's more helpful in the long run if they eat the kinds of things you eat. I'm doing mainly puree but I got an aubergine just to puree for him and we hardly ever eat it anyway 🤷🏽♀️ Also with meal planning for you, try to plan stuff where you can give him a bit of it. I do finger foods at dinner so if he can eat a bit of it, I give that to him. Otherwise I make him a slice of toast. Made a couple batches of food that I froze so I can just defrost him a couple polenta fries or baby pancakes. Maybe just give him cucumber/tomato/fruit.

I at first thought it is going to be easy but food gets waste. As we don’t eat most vegetables. So Now I cut the veggies in small shapes. Get them in freezer as single pieces and once freezes I put in a ziplock bag. Label it. I bought a broccoli and now I have 2 weeks of broccoli if I want to give everyday, instead of the rest getting wasted . Same goes for carrots, cauliflower etc etc
@Iqra yes I think we've been in that difficulty with food waste too. We haven't had a freezer for months and just got a second hand one today so hoping it works then can start putting portions in the freezer

In my home country we eat spicy food everyday! So my babies groceries is a grocery for another person 🤣 so I add 10 pounds worth of groceries for him every week and freeze the portions. It just works for me

I’ve been using ‘what we have in’ or what we use. Then occasionally I’ll buy something I don’t like and she’ll have that in a few different combinations over a few days.
There’s plenty she still hasn’t tried but she’s tried lots of things in lots of combinations still.
I found if I bought 2-3 things. I’d use them up making lots of variety’s and store in the freezer. Saves both time and money.
If you have 1-2 vegs, google BLW (if you’re doing that) recipes on insta or tiktok using say broccoli and carrot for example. Then make them and feeeze. It’s helped us lots, I’m not trying to think what’s for tea every night as much x

I give my baby spicy food already. I love spicy food too so he might as well get used to it 😂 I gave him curry and satay stir fry so far.

I am still not sure how to cook curry for my LB
