So my 14 month old has started being distant from her grandma (my mom) it’s been a week & she doesn’t want to be held by her or give her a kiss. But she will sometimes go up to her & babble but a kiss or being held is a no. I don’t understand why is this something she’ll get over or should I be worried?

she’s experiencing her autonomy i guess. it’s perfectly normal, and fine, and not necessarily something she’ll “get over”, and she doesn’t have to ☺️ my 3 year old decides when he decides to give cuddles and kisses to family/friends, including us. we show him respect and complete autonomy when he doesn’t want to do something. “can mama have a kiss?” says no, “okay thats fine☺️” and we move on. same with cuddles. or “can you give nanny a cuddle goodbye?” he says no, “okay maybe next time!” sometimes he will give cuddles and kisses, and other times he won’t. it depends on how he’s feeling as to when he shows physical affection, and we show complete respect in those situations so he knows it’s okay to not want to cuddle or kiss when he doesn’t want to. but he knows it’s welcome the next time he does want to ☺️ don’t force anything, don’t pressure her, and if she doesn’t want to be held by someone or kissed by someone, respect it. she will eventually, in her own time, as and when she wants x
