RANT!!

Being pregnant with a toddler is HARD.

But why am I not allowed to say this?!!!

My son is 18 months and everyone says how busy and full on he is, he literally doesn’t stop and has also recently started having major tantrums.

So some days are very difficult, when I’m on my own with him (I work part time at the moment).

I’ve had a particularly hard day today. He’s been in a bad mood, had the most tantrums ever and kicked me in the stomach very hard when I was changing his nappy so I cried when my partner got home.

My partner lovely and a great dad but he then said ‘I’m worried if you’re struggling this much now that you’re going to find things much harder when the baby comes’

His mum has said on multiple occasions ‘if you think this is hard, it’s going to be even harder when the baby comes’

My mum has said something similar too and my sister in law likes to remind me constantly how hard it will be.

I know it will be hard. But why does that mean I’m not allowed to have hard days now too?

Hormones raging, absolutely exhausted. Feeling defeated.

God I wish we could drink wine during pregnancy!!! 🙈😩

I hear you! This is my first but any time I'm tired? 'Wait till the baby is here, then you'll be tired!'. Any time I'm stressed or overwhelmed? 'Just wait till the baby comes!'. The only way I solved this was by being confrontational with anyone who said these things - now they're a lot more mindful! My midwife was also a massive support system for this and validated everything I said so dont be afraid to share this with her (even if your partner is in the room, throw him under the bus if you have to). Sometimes people dont realise what they're saying is hurtful. It absolutely sucks because you just with they would be more understanding. Especially mums/mums in law/others with kids but I find they can sometimes be the worst 😭 you're allowed hard days, I would sob if my toddler kicked me in my pregnant stomach. You're hormonal, you're tired but youre also human and you are ALLOWED to feel defeated! It doesn't mean you won't cope and it doesn't make you a bad mum/person ❤️ dont let the bastards get you down

Most mums have told me that it’s way harder being pregnant with a toddler than a newborn. 18 months is a really hard age too, my little girl is 2.5 and she is sooooo much easier the when she was 18 months. So it will get easier. I know it’s hard but just ignore them , they can’t remember what it was like and how hard pregnancy is.

But yes , to your point , i complained once and got told my the lady who does my brows ( she doesn’t like kids ) well I don’t have much sympathy because you choose this . People are mean. And you’re just not allowed to moan, you should be able to talk to your partner tho.

Anyway hope you feel a-bit better , if it helps I’m really struggling to im exhausted and it’s hard work having a toddler and I’m more ready for the baby to be here now so i don’t have to be pregnant anymore.

Sorry you're not getting much sympathy! My friend who had two about 2 years apart said she found pregnancy + toddler much harder than pregnancy with a newborn so definitely won't necessarily be harder when the baby comes! Totally agree with Lee too, have a 2.5 year old and definitely has his moments and I find the days on my own with him exhausting at the moment, he's so much easier than he was a year ago. So it will get better!

I find being pregnant and having a toddler(s) to look after much harder than having a toddler and a newborn. Pregnancy exhaustion is different

I could have written this myself, exact same here! Literally on the verge on a breakdown today 😂. My 18 month old has been poorly this last week, my partner is working away for 2 months which means he leaves at 5am and doesn’t get home until 9pm so I’m basically all on my own Monday- Friday. I also have 2 dogs I am not okay 😂. My daughter is usually quite ‘easy’ , will play independently, sleeps really well but because she’s been ill that’s all gone out the window and it’s no sleep, tantrums, being clingy and it’s so bloody hard! She jumped on my stomach today because she wants to be laid on top of me 🙈. I hear you, I’m absolutely exhausted too and those stupid comments only add to the rage!

Also here for solidarity! Very similar situation. I have a boisterous 20 month old who is so hard to look after at the minute cos he has zero sense of danger, I cannot relax at all for stopping him climbing etc, its really taking a toll on my body which is obviously slower to react, ive got pelvic pain etc so im not able to jump up as quickly as I normally can. I get a mixture of comments but most people have been supportive and said having two is easier and that the newborn bit isn't as hard as you'd imagine. X

You are bound to have hard days. When it's hard, you let it out and start afresh the day after.

Feel free to message me. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and have a 19 month old. I have hard days and days where I think omg this is going to be hard. I got talking to someone that had similar. She said 19 month old and pregnant is hard. But 23 month old and newborn is better. So I'm holding onto that. But I'm expecting hard days. Xx

I really feel you on this! My girl just turned 2 and the tantrums are at an all time high. I feel guilty for moaning but it is incredibly hard work when pregnant. I also keep getting asked how I’m going to manage 2 because my daughter is non stop and a bit of a daredevil

Your feelings are valid and it’s HARD! I am pregnant with twins and high risk and have an 18 month old and finding it so hard to match his energy levels. I’ve been told I need to go on modified rest but it’s impossible as my toddler is so full of energy and constantly trying to climb!

I find getting up and out early for walk and park then getting any house jobs done before nap helps, then during naptime make sure you are resting too . But I feel so guilty we are having more screen time than I’d like in the afternoon but we are in survival mode!

From everyone of my friends I’ve spoken to with two under two they have said pregnancy is way harder (hoping it’s the same for 3 under 2 😂) Also with my first everyone did the just waits which was always negative and it was all scare mongering

Be kind to yourself your doing amazing

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

People telling you your baby is hungry..

I know people don’t always mean it in a bad way and are trying to relate, but when people say my baby is hungry when chewing his hands. I feed him regularly. He eats pretty much every 2 hours. He isn’t hungry, he just loves chewing and exploring his hands. Or they say something about teething, which it is also not, as he isn’t unsettled with it. I have looked into it myself and can be common and neither of those things! He has done it most of the day since 2 months old.
