How did you know when to increase the teat size? Baby is super frustrated when feeding, will have outbursts of crying momentarily and then going back to the bottle, takes forever to finish a bottle and is super distracted too (on off feeding). We tried going to up to teat 2 (MAM) but she was super windy and in pain towards the evening! 🙃
Would love to know when you increased and how it went?

We increased 2 weeks ago for all the same reasons you’ve listed and it’s been a game changer. She was 12 weeks x

That’s when they are ready, all I did was up teat., sit her upright and then pace fed - only half filled the teat, pulled away every now and then to let her catch her breath took a few feeds to get her used to it but since. She’s. Been fine

did you find that your LO was super windy and uncomfortable at the start? X

to begin with yes, but she was always struggling that’s why I kept pulling away every. Now and then wind abit then go again it’s just because it goes abit faster x

she didn’t really notice the difference she was okay. I’ve heard pace feeding etc at first helps x

My health visitor recommended sterilising a needle and poking it through the teat to make a "1 and a half" size.

With my first, she went through a few phases of on-off feeding, being distracted etc, but they were just phases. We stayed on size 0 until around 2 months, then size 1 until around 4.5-5 months before moving to 2. There’s quite a big difference in the flow from 1 to 2. She never even got to size 3 and stopped milk when she was 14 months.
Our son is 3.5 months and has moved up from 0 to 1, but that’s all. 😊

My baby has milk thickner for reflux so had to change to size 2 early on, but I could tell they needed changed because he was falling asleep during his feed but then waking up after a few minutes wanting more. It took him a few feeds to get used to it but it made a big difference x

I definitely agree that you should pull the teat out so she doesn’t get carried away. I had to do this with my newborn as the slowest teat was still too fast so I had to keep taking it away until she eventually got used to it x

I’ve switched to vari flow teats. She’s much happier on those than the sized ones.

My combi fed LG still has size 0 MAM teats at 4.5 months as when I tried the size 1 she spit up loads after. She's not that much bigger than a large newborn though so that may be why?
