Has anyone gone into a panic attack before/during a C section ?

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and I’ve had them in the past and anybody who has them knows exactly how scary they can be

I’m terrified of needles, blood, operations you name it.

Long story short I’m going for a planned C section and my biggest fear is that I’ll go into a panic attack during the procedure

The midwife told me there are drugs they can give to ease the nerves but has anyone experienced this or opted to take the drugs to calm the nerves and prevent a panic ? Do they actually work?

I just want to be calm and relaxed and happy when I meet my baby but I can’t help but dread the day because of how anxious I am and I don’t want to ruin the experience because of my own nerves

I have anxiety and was very nervous for mine. I don’t remember what they gave me but whatever it was really helped calm me down. There was only a minute or two during surgery when I started to really get anxious but the anesthesiologist was able to quickly calm me back down. Just make sure you talk to your team when you go in. They’ll make sure ti take care of you!!

During my first c section I was terrified and got in such a state of panic toward the end that the person who administered the medication gave me something to calm me down which then knocked me out and this eventually left me feeling quite traumatised. For my second planned section I spoke about this before with the surgical team so they were aware that I experienced this the time before which then allowed them to plan ahead and give me something extra ahead of time to calm me and then really talked me down to calm and it was honestly amazing, I’m in awe of my experience this time round. Please talk with the team before hand, make them aware and they have the ability to prevent/reduce the risk of a panic attack x

I had a panic attack and they took care of me really quick! Whatever they gave me made me very sleepy but it wore off fast so I could meet my baby.

She made sure to ask whether or not I wanted to see him when he came out and told me that if I received the medication before he came out that I would be too sleepy to see him. We did wait until he came out but she was fast with it.

She ahead of time because I was very visibly distressed going in. Crying, shaking uncontrollably, etc.

I spent the night before in silence, doing colouring apps on my iPad 😂 I was nervous but I’d done it before. Felt a bit jittery the first time but the staff really are amazing at keeping you calm. I’m a huge chicken, never been in hospital before kids, hate needles, white coat syndrome and both times were truly amazing experiences. No trauma, no panic, no stress. You’ll be amazed in yourself when it’s go time xxx

I had mine 2 months ago, I actually did have a panic attack during it, I’m not someone who has them so was very strange for myself.
But within minutes I was calmed down and given stuff to help, they were amazing at helping and calming me down. Don’t know what they gave me but it worked.
It is scary I won’t lie but honestly the team around you are brilliant at calming you and being there xx

I did after my first section 5 years ago. Bit of background it was Covid I’d been in for a week being induced & nothing happened. It was just after surgery finished, however I’d never had a panic attack before so had no idea and neither did they what was happening. I’m going for a planned section this time as my anxiety won’t let me do it any other way after last time. The team in theatre are just fantastic and you should be fine but just be mindful of it.

I did because I didn’t want a c-section. I started shaking and crying. But honestly it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. They cover so you don’t actually see anything.

Girrrlll trust me, they will give you medicine to relax you.
My first c-section I was nauseous as fuccckkkkk when they had me cut opened, and when they saw I was about to throw up, they gave me something to calm me down, and I felt better

My second c-section was easy peasy. I was completely fine: I didn’t need any extra medicines to calm me down

i had an unplanned c section, found out two hours before, and was so nervous i threw up before my surgery in l&d and once in the OR before incision. they gave me zofran all three times and then whatever they gave me for my anxiety halfway through my surgery. after that i was kinda out of it from the anesthesia because there's sedatives in that too and don't remember much except being calm once i heard my baby cry and being so cold, that's all i could focus on. they really do take care of you in the OR.

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

Newborn stage

Is anyone tired of doing the same thing everyday and being on a 2-3 hour schedule? It’s the same everyday and I feel like I’m losing my mind. It’s making me depressed even if I get out once a day. When does it get better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the next stage where it’s not just sitting around all day.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.
