So my daughter was born on the 23rd, so this is technically her second Christmas but considering her and I were both just basically potatos last Christmas, it almost feels like this is her first. Anyways, I’ve been excited to decorate and have our Christmas tree and all that. Then it suddenly dawned on me, how the heck are we gonna have a Christmas tree when she is 100% going to try and eat it, pull the ornaments off and could pull the tree down as well.
What’s everyone else doing?
I feel like even if we secured it to the wall and didn’t have any breakable ornaments/no lights it’d still be sketchy. I don’t want her eating a real tree or a fake one lol.
Putting a gate around it like these photos seems like the only option, but then I feel like it’s just going to be taunting her and she’s going to be mad that she can’t get to it and if it’s just upsetting her then it kinda defeats the purpose.
She is already walking, will pull out toys/boxes etc to try and climb on to reach stuff. So I can only imagine she’s going to get even more creative and mischievous by December 😂

But idk! I love having a tree but I could survive skipping it this year, but I want her to have a tree! Even if she’s not going to really remember.

Or, we do a tree with a gate but just only have it up for Christmas and Christmas Eve. Never in my life have a put a tree up for just two days lol but 🤷🏼♀️

I am putting a gate around mine just because I want him to have a tree with his presents under it. I am super excited for his Christmas

We are probably in all likelihood going to put a baby gate around the circumference of the tree (one of those paneled ones because she will be wanting to get into everything) (born 12/29) even though she isn’t walking yet in addition to probably putting decorations higher up (she’s a crawling menace at this point haha 😂)
