Stitches after birth

I had my baby 9 days ago and I had a second degree tear that was repaired with dissolvable stitches. I was wiping my rear with some wipes and looked down and saw a string in my tissue paper. I am not in any pain but am completely worried that I just ripped one of my stitches out.

Has this happened to anyone else???

Try and pat dry rather than wipe.

They won’t restitch so as long as there are no signs of infection/ you’re not in pain I’d just try to be super gentle and not worry x

I also had stitches after a tear, it is probably the excess string from the stitches if that makes sense? If you think about it they have to tie it off sort of. I had the same and panicked but its probably that the stitch holding the skin has dissolved so the excess just falls off

Not sure if helpful as I didn’t have signs of infection etc so honestly just go with medical pros advise but the midwife on my next day home visit told me as the stitches dissolve sometimes you can see worm like bits (her words) in wee or when you wipe and this is just them dissolving xx

Totally normal, mine would drop in the shower! Just be careful with the area

After I gave birth I also had stitches and was told by the midwife that there is a chance that the knots wouldn’t dissolve and they’ll likely come off on some tissue after using the toilet and look a bit like a spider😅 but I think I started losing the around 1 week pp!

I had to pull my dissolvable stitches out of my c section wound. They can actually take a really really long time to dissolve so it can be normal for your body to start pushing them out and little pieces come away

shower infront of children

Is it weird to shower infront of your children, or your children see you naked?
At what age should this stop?

I’m just looking at what everyone’s thoughts are as I have a 7 month old and at the moment it’s hard for me to shower without him getting upset.

We contact nap atm, otherwise I'd shower when he sleeps!

It’s easier to bring his play mat into the bathroom whilst I shower so i can at least wash, else i have to wait for my husband to arrive home at 5/6pm.

Keen to see what people's opinions are and how other people do this!

GIRL DADS TAKING DAUGHTER TO BATHROOM IN PUBLIC

If a girl dad needs to take his daughter to the bathroom in public and there are no family bathrooms … I swear video online of a dad saying he uses the women’s bathroom but always knocks and announces ‘girl dad helping my daughter go to the bathroom’ and I love that idea and mens rooms are disgusting but wanted to see everyone’s thoughts

Dummies

What’s everyone’s views on dummies? Are you planning to use them and if so at what age ? I am breastfeeding and my midwife said to avoid them as it might effect feeding but baby is feeding really well now and he has now found his thumb to suck for comfort ! I would prefer him to use a sterilised dummy than his hands that might carry germs but he is only 3.5 weeks not sure if it’s too early ?
