My baby is so sporadic with his feeding. He seems comfortable with breastfeeding but I wanted an idea of what everyone else’s newborns are doing ie how frequently and how long do they feed for? Mine only takes from one side and falls asleep! So when I offer other side, he won’t take it.

Feeds are about 20 minutes, I only do one side per feed. During the day (7am-8pm) he feeds every 2-3 hours. Then overnight I feed at 8pm before putting him down for the night and he wakes at 3am then 7am.
Baby is 6 weeks

My baby is the same, he only does 10 mins on one side. I just make sure to offer the other side the next time. He feeds every 2-3 hours in the day and longer stretches of 3-4 hours at night.

My LO is 5 weeks and feeds every 2-3 hours. (Although has started going 4 hours when she’s asleep) One side each time and anywhere between 5-15mins each feed.
I don’t wake to feed as she’s way over birth weight.
I have a fast let down so was feeding too much too fast which was/is causing reflux symptoms. So keep her sat up for up to 30mins.
However to combat this we’ve started expressing to monitor feed amounts and the teats slow the rate of flow. This is from the last week or two but has made a difference. Usually alternate boob feed then next bottle (depending on what we’re doing)
After many appointments with HV and infant feeding team they said feeds can last between 5-45mins is normal as long as they are feeding well
