What do people buy their children’s key worker / nursery staff as a Christmas present and is this the done thing to do? I’ve seen posts in the past where nursery staff weren’t able to accept gifts, so I don’t want to waste money if it’s not the done thing!
I was planning on getting the staff in the room my little one is in a box of chocolate to share and wanted to get his key worker a separate present. Would this be okay?

I work in a nursery, and that sounds lovely. But don't feel pressure to buy gifts!

I think it depends on your nursery. I always used to get chocolate.

Some parents do and some don’t. Just a card is always nice too or some little scented candles. X

I used to work in a nursery and we'd sometimed receive chocolate or other foody bits for the staff to share. And sometimes small personal things directly to key workers, a parent of one of my key children gave me a personalised Christmas decoration which I thought was sweet and I still put it out every year. But tbh yes depending on the nursery sometimes accepting gifts is tricky although I think chocolates to share are generally always accepted. Oh another parent once wrote a lovely card and inside was an M&S gift voucher, so you could always tell your keyworker to open the card when they get home so they dont have to disclose/share the gift :)

A lovely virus. Return
The favour!

I was wondering this as I assumed they’d be inundated with chocolates from the parents. I’m going to decorate conifers with my lo so I think we’ll give them one of those and a homemade card

I’ve been thinking about this, and I think I’m going to give little gift bags of mini Prosecco/nosecco and a mini candle for them to take home and enjoy.

We do a card and chocolates / biscuits

We did a hamper for the whole nursery. Things like biscuits/tea/coffee etc

Box of chocolates & a card with the lil ones finger prints on a Christmas tree as baubles 🎄if you have paint & do messy play with the lil one at home.
It’s meaningful & not too costly

I always get a box of chocolate for room staff and then a personal gift for his key worker, depending on who they are. I’ve gotten some nice smelly, and nice candle, that sort of thing.

I’ve ordered a Christmas cupcake each from a local baker for each member of staff.
We a nursery worked we’ve always been allowed to accept gifts

I used to get a hamper for all the staff to share, coffee, tea, hot choc, chocolates biscuit and a Christmas cake. I only bought key worker something when changing rooms

We get a big crate of wine for the staff x
