IUGR

I had this they say my baby was small and would be no more then 2 kilos something at birth . She was born 3 kilos 460 i wouldnt really worry

My babys head measured small approx 2 weeks ago and I had to have further scans and a TORCH blood test. I am undr observation anyway for potential preeclampsia and low pap-a.

I know it sounds scary but there are a few things to note-
Firstly I am small in height at 5'1 so I was never going to have a big baby. The baby might be small but the right size for me if that makes sense?

Baby weighs 2.3 lbs and just hitting 11th centile. I had another scan 2 weeks later which has just happened and discussed with consultant. The baby is growing and everything else is functioning so whilst they will keep an eye on the baby and me for now it is okay. I am due to go back for another scan in 3 weeks time.

I have been advised due to low pap-a they wouldn't want me to go past 39 weeks and to expect discussions for baby to come between 37-39 weeks which i am fine with as 37 weeks is classed as full term anyway.

I wouldn't panic too much- sometimes babies are small just like babies can also be bigger.

I had the opposite where he measured big. Came out 5lb 10oz. He’s now nearly 3 and thriving just a bit short. Don’t stress too much. They put weight on as needed

At 28 weeks my baby measured 5th percentile for weight. She jumped up to 10th by 32 weeks. She was born at 39 + 1 weighing 3.1kg (6lb 13oz). The measurements can be way off because there can be a lot of fluid or baby's in a funny position. It's good to keep an eye on things with extra scans and to ensure everything else is okay but as long as baby is growing and everything is proportionate they're okay.
I know easier said than done because I stressed so much but try to be positive. You're doing a great job

I was told the same thing and had scans with a MFM every 2 weeks. She was always around the 10th percentile but they couldn’t find anything to explain why. No cord or blood flow issues, everything looked good. They wanted to induce at 40 weeks but I declined, she was born 40+5 with no intervention and weighed 6.14lbs which is very normal and healthy size baby. Anyway all that to say the scans are not always accurate. Try not to stress

my babys weight/size fluctuated between the 1st and 10th percentile the whole pregnancy. she was closely monitored and it was scary and very anxiety inducing, especially for my first pregnancy but I was induced at 39 weeks and she was born completely healthy and didnt even need the NICU!!

My baby girl had IUGR I was induced at 37 weeks and she was estimated to weigh 5lbs but she came out at 4lbs! She was 80g away from being in the intensive care unit but she was perfectly healthy! She didn’t need any help with anything not even the blue light for jaundice! She is now 4 and she’s still a little bit smaller than her friends but she is funny and bright. So even if your baby is born a bit smaller, try not to worry because it isn’t always the worst outcome. If you need to talk about it I’m here if you want to message! :)

I only found out that my little girl had IUGR at 39+5 (it got completely missed despite my bump not growing from 33 weeks onwards). She was born at 5lbs and absolutely fine. Needed no support, breastfed straight away and now is in the 10th centile. She's meeting all her milestones way ahead of time (crawling at 6 months and just started standing unassisted at 9 months) 💕 Sometimes they also get it wrong as well, but you might just have a small but strong bubba! Try not to stress too much, you've got this! X

Hey mama!! I was monitored closely for IUGR, my whole pregnancy my daughter was just barely over the limit where they'd be concerned. I was induced at 37w anyway for other reasons, and the US the day before showed her at 6lb 2 ounce and she was born 5lb 8oz- so she actually was considered IUGR! Shes 3 months old now and doing GREAT, just little! She just started wearing 0-3m clothes and is still in newborn diapers. She wore preemie clothes for about 6 weeks! From my personal experience, it was nothing major to be concerned about once she was here, we just had weekly weight checks to make sure she was gaining weight. They didnt worry about her percentile, as long as she was staying consistent on HER growth curve! Shes happy and healthy, and right on track for milestones!
